and the palace is getting closer now! it looks SO radiant. it's so pretty. all abalone pale and glimmering with rainbows, the water strewn with huge pearls giving off light. there are gorgeous undersea gardens. it looks like a really nice place!

but just as he's about to reach the outer gater, the ground starts to tremble ]

[NO, WHY!!! WHY WOULD THE EARTH DO THIS]

the water turns wine-dark, glimmering with strange colors. and before any other sign of her can be seen, a voice resounds:

[since this is a dream, and they're in the ocean, and he knows how to manipulate water, he tries to freeze just a little bit of it at his fingertips. testing if he can, and how much a dream will allow]

[ lethe is allowed to GO WILD, the ocean ain't gonna stop him. it might...even help him a little? expand his abilities beyond the real world?

meanwhile, the goddess is still approaching, her shadow turning the whole sea even darker ]

[oh cool, that's a wonderful boost! then he's going to freeze the water around her limbs--whether they be fins or anything else--in an attempt to block her movements, to start]

shoots upward to dodge the blow, though the rush from the water surrounding her hand is still enough to spin him off-balance; he focuses on creating a dozen or so ice spears to shoot into her hand in response]

[ those ice spears STRIKE with wonderful aim! and they make the goddess roar

ear-splittingly loudly,

so much so that the entire ocean reverberates, shaking harder and harder until the dream shatters, and they wake ]

[sits STRAIGHT up in bed, reaching for a weapon that isn't there

and realizes he's awake. it takes a moment for his brain to try and wind down from "fight" mode.]

--Ugh, come on.

[rubs at his face, debating whether or not to try and go right back to bed. but now he's fully restless in the wake of the dream, so he slips out of bed and into the hallway, checking to see if he can hear anyone else up and bopping around...]

[ quiet at first. but then there's a distinct sound of a door quietly opening and shutting and footsteps heading towards the stairs ]

[waits for a few seconds, debating the possible pros and cons of this, and follows the sound of those footsteps]

[ well, if he follows, we're just going down to the kitchen ]

[into the kitchen it is! he's not trying to be sneaky; his footfalls are still heavy with half-sleep as he wanders into the kitchen under the pretense of grabbing himself a cup of water]

[ cepheus has splashed his face with water and filled a glass of his own by the time lethe walks in. he's rummaging around in the pantry, but he turns around empty-handed after a moment. ]

[shakes his head and slips over to grab a glass of water]
