I'm also a pretty light sleeper, so let's call it even.

Deal. Everyone in this house is a light sleeper or doesn't need to sleep at all. At some point it'll be more surprising if someone doesn't wake up at odd hours.

[sips at his water and steals a glance at Cepheus's face; does he look like he's been getting shitty sleep, or about normal?]

Especially with Kevin around here.

[ lingers by the counter instead of going for his own glass, leaning his weight against it. he does in fact look like he's been getting pretty bad sleep, and not just this night. ]

Kevin and Charon. That guy always shows up when you least expect it.

[fiddles with his glass as he tries to think of a way to broach the subject without spooking him]

...Is having bad dreams a demigod staple?

Oh, yeah. We all get them, all the time. Bad dreams, visions, chats with immortals...Kevin could tell you about it too.

Do all of those things still happen here?

[ shrug ]

It's just the nightmares, here. So far.

That seems to imply the rest will follow.

[frowns]

I mentioned it to Kevin already, but...if you need help sleeping, I have a skill that can do that much.

I always expect the worst.

Really. I'd appreciate it if you didn't spread it around, obviously, but I don't mind Lily knowing what I can do. I have a skill for calming, and a skill that can put someone into a dreamless sleep. It requires a certain level of trust to work properly, but even a little bit is better than nothing, right?

That's just how the skill is. If you trust me, even a little, that's enough to help you get a good night's sleep. I...figured you'd have the same concerns that Kevin did about people walking into your dreams, so...

[ surprised into a slight laugh ]

[shakes his head]

It was fine. I'm used to getting weird dreams from time to time. And I'm used to this place. It was pretty refreshing to let off some steam, actually.

[ squints at ]

So you're...not upset about it? I kind of thought you'd be upset about it.

I...am upset that she was there. I'd have liked to be able to get rid of her entirely, but I already said I wouldn't do that without your consent.

[ headshake ]

She wasn't really there, trust me. That was just a nightmare.

...If she's in your nightmares then that means you aren't exactly happy with your current situation either.

[ looks down, drumming his fingers against the counter ]

I never said I was happy about it.

Are you not happy about it, then?

Oh yeah, all I've ever wanted was for a dead fish to adopt me. That was really on my to-do list.

If you don't want her there, I can get her out at any time.

[ shakes his head before lethe's done talking, closing his eyes ]
