[ squint ]

What does that have to do with teaching?
mykidisthebest: (When I got you right where I want you)

Re: m pls

[personal profile] mykidisthebest 2024-05-19 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Because it does teach you, in a way. If I connect your senses with mine and show you how I use one of my skills, you can see and feel it for yourself. Gaining that understanding makes it easier for you to use that skill too, as long as it's something that your body is capable of.

...huh. I guess that makes sense, when you put it like that.

It doesn't make you perfect at something, so you still have to hone skills in your own way. It's still useful, though. Especially when someone tries to fib about smelling colors.
audacity: (🌊 017.)

Not gonna let that one go, huh.

I'll let it go if you'll tell me whether or not you want chocolate chips in your pancakes.
audacity: (🌊 056.)

[ cants his head, considers that ]

I think you might be onto something. My mom used to work at this candy shop? And she'd always bring home samples of every blue candy in the store for me. Especially on bad days. It always helped.
mykidisthebest: (Everything goes on)

I heard it from a reliable source, so I'm sure it's true. But it's still best to eat sweets in moderation. If you get used to them, then it doesn't count as a treat.
audacity: (🌊 someone stop him.)

Re: m pls

You're seriously not old enough to be talking like that.
mykidisthebest: (never felt that much like medication)

Re: m pls

[personal profile] mykidisthebest 2024-05-21 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
How old do I have to be to talk like that?
audacity: (🌊 048.)

Re: m pls

[personal profile] audacity 2024-05-21 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Like, seventy. At least. I mean β€” I never knew my mortal grandparents, so I'm no expert, but that sounds like solid granddad material.
mykidisthebest: ('til the words I tell myself are covered)

I know a guy in his thirties that talks like that. And I talk like that! I can't change it so easily.
audacity: (🌊 guess i'll die!)

Re: m pls

[personal profile] audacity 2024-05-22 08:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I didn't say you had to change it. Just that it's old person talk.

Re: m pls

[personal profile] mykidisthebest 2024-05-23 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
I did spend most of my teenage years working with middle-aged people, so my speech sounds older as a result. I can't help that.
audacity: (🌊 get that a lot.)

[waves a hand]

It's fine. You're not the first person that's said it. You won't be the last. It's not a bad thing if I seem older. It makes me seem more dependable!
audacity: normal things (🌊 talking at swordpoint.)

Re: m pls

[personal profile] audacity 2024-05-23 02:02 pm (UTC)(link)
You already seem, like...maximum dependable. I don't think you need any help in that department.

Hush and eat your pancakes.

For the record, you aren't the only person who can circle back to things later.

[ POINTS AT EYES POINTS AT HIM

mykidisthebest: (I wanna walk like you)

Re: m pls

[personal profile] mykidisthebest 2024-05-24 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
Feel free to~! I don't give away secrets for free. It's only fair to make it an equal trade if you're going to hold off on saying anything.

[he's still making more pancakes, just a stack of them to keep tossing onto a plate until the batter is all gone]
audacity: (🌊 016.)

So you're saying you'll only answer if I will?
