in the meantime, Blossom has dragged this sausage creature with a mushroom in its mouth out from behind a rock. there appears to be a portal of pure darkness ripped into being behind its head, so if you want to like... astral project into that, or just... step into it, honestly...

You can even destroy her, or at least a part of her.

...But, it won't be fun.

I don't care about Blossom one bit. Once she's destroyed, I'll get what was lost. And--I bet I could even reward you for all your hard work.

I figured everything out a long time ago, Snake.

About your love of your father. My guess is either you want to 'avenge' him if he's died, or live up to his expectations, or legacy. It could be both! Then, you got a lot of misinformation about the pasture. Then, you acted on it without really thinking about anything but how neat it'd be to hurt Blossom and the sheep. How your father would be proud.

Then, you started summoning us... but there's no real way you can 'force' us to be your minions, right? Then, you'd be summoning slaves. Slavery isn't fun.

I saw all that. And... it's not exactly going that way. Is it?

Because, I know you're not malicious. or evil. Or anything like that. You've shown me kindness when you didn't need to, among a number of other things. That makes you a good person.

...So, the truth is you've done me a kindness you can't imagine. I'm not sure you intended it, but you really did. So, I'll go along with anything you like to make you happy, Snake. If that's as your minion, I'm your best minion. The kind of minion you want.

But, if we keep doing the same thing in the same way, I don't think the result is going to be fun. Because the sheep aren't evil, either. They don't really know what's happening, other than they'd also like it to stop.

You can do all those things, but it won't make the world "fun."

So... given all that, do you really want to deny it and just keep going?

But, he does go silent. She can't make out his face, but she can tell he's frowning, thinking. Meanwhile, Your Name suddenly feels a powerup.]

I'm. . .not the bad guy. . .Blossom is. . .right?

[he fiddles with his shirt, clearly internally struggling]

I don't just want to hurt people, but those others are standing in my way. Still. . .

There are still other pastures out there, you know. Inside the mist. They aren't all gone. So. . .when we take down Blossom, I'll make sure you and your friends are safe. That's good, right? That's what you would want, from a good leader?

You're not the bad guy. Some people say you are, but they're wrong. That's the truth. But, I don't think they understand the reasons why you're not the bad guy.

I think I said what I want. I want Snake to be happy, because Snake has given me something priceless. You gave me freedom. You gave me a real human body. You gave me the chance to interact with actual real life people. You made it so I wouldn't have to live, or die, alone. --And it's okay if you don't really understand.

Taking my friends with me to a new pasture and leaving the ones who have done me harm is a nice idea. But, unfortunately, society is like an organism instead of a machine. You can't remove one person, leave their friend behind, and expect them to like you instead. --Even if it's a person you hate or is objectively a jerk.

Can a good leader save everyone from Blossom, the evil witch?
