[ Since it is a Daffodil rite, the Daffodils (at least, the ones that are not children who have no idea what they're doing and therefore aren't Tart, the best baby shepherd ever) have set up a little party in the rec room for all the kids and their poor beleaguered adults!

They've set up snacks and pulled out a few games as well as some pillows from the library for naptime and books — including picture books — nearby before putting the word out to others to stop by the rec room around lunchtime. And hey, if they have anything they can bring along, all the better! ]

Eh, the mushroom thing was the biggest one I can remember. I still use it to this day. "This one is for eating, and this one can be used for medicinal purposes."

You can't eat the ones used for medicine?

Oh, sometimes you can. And the poisonous ones, you have to be very careful and only use a little bit or certain parts.

Huh . . . mushrooms weren't part of survival training for me, just herbs.

You'll have to teach me specifics sometime.

I'd like that. Don't know if there are any forests near where you live, but I'd like that.

Aha . . . I live in DC. But we can go find one.

[ He wrinkles up his nose. ]

I am going to be in DC? . . . I suppose there are worse things in life.
