[Rose has been running around for the past day and a half, prepping everything they'll need for the mist expedition to save Angel Devil from eternal wolfhood. But in the wee hours of the morning, the night before they planned to head out, Shadow Fiend's bell jingles gently. If she weren't still awake, she might have missed it. But she doesn't, and when she follows a hunch and checks on Angel Devil's location, she gets the distinct ping of a flock member in the pasture—before it recedes back into the vague sense of "in the mist."

So screw tomorrow morning. This might be the best chance they have of avoiding an extended mist expedition. And so, a mass cube call goes out, to all of Rose, and Lethe, Charon, and Maomao, too.]

WAKE UP! Um, sorry. Change of plans, we're going after Angel Devil now. I just sensed him at the edge of the mist. He stepped back inside, but he can't have gone far—this might be our best chance. He's not far from where we planned to meet up tomorrow, too. Okay! See you there.

[his voice is cheerful while he is still brandishing his gun]

[Keeps his pen between two fingers and cups that hand around his mouth:]

[ EXTREMELY DEADPAN, not raising her voice ]

I'm tired and I want to go home so hurry and come out.

[Shadow Fiend abruptly freezes when Angel Devil's location disappears from her perception.

and then it reappears.

she waves her arm frantically, gesturing for all of them to follow her as she awkwardly runs sideways, trying to move fast, but not so fast that she loses contact with the apothecary]

Left! Left! Go left!

[He doesn't even have time to respond to Pond Fiend's joke before suddenly this is happening.]

What the—?!

[Shit shit this is already happening too fast. At least they are boosted right now. He shoves Maomao in that direction, trying to keep her safely sandwiched between her Rose Army guard.]

[See how effective that was? Never mind that it was probably just the sound of their voices that got his attention.

He follows along with the others, though it's hard with all this disorientation to keep from stumbling over their much smaller guide. Thankfully he avoids doing that.]

Surely you didn't think he wouldn't be ridiculous about this.

[ I DON'T CARE I JUST DON'T WANT TO GET EATEN. she stumbles mostly at the sudden movement, but she at least doesn't have to worry about the disorientation. this could be so much worse if she were also off-balance. ]

_{[ "Left! Left! Go Left!" was a good call, because right after, one long, lanky line of very big red werewolf comes barreling past the spot you were all JUST in, teeth first.

After the miss he banks hard, ripping long gouges in the soil with his claws, tail balancing him out and then curling up behind him in an activated posture with a lot more flex than any canine's is supposed to have.

The little wisp of gently glowing magic has come to float placidly beside you.

Its five siblings, each in different colors, all floating in an array around the werewolf... look... a LOT more threatening.

There you are, Angel Devil! Don't worry, Pond Fiend didn't mean it, your play is just fine! Why don't you come with us and we'll read it out to you? You need to finish making the casting decisions, right? So much has happened since you got lost, you're really going to have to do some revisions though... We'll tell you all about it... We've got cushions, and that shampoo you like...

[Shadow Fiend is mostly just babbling whatever comes to mind, more trying to keep a soothing tone of voice, like you're supposed to use for spooked horses. at least, she's pretty sure it's what you're supposed to use for spooked horses.

and also keeping an eye out for the skull, since that's the floaty spell orb she knows for sure is supposed to be there. and all the while, gently jingling that shepherd's bell.]

[He mutters in a lower voice, primarily directed at Shadow Fiend.]

...Okay—remember the part where I had something I would use when the time is right and all that, and you shouldn't question my methods. Just keep that in mind. Keep luring him out.

[He temporarily holsters his gun so that he can pull something else out from his jacket.

It is... an erotic magazine, that he is now hastily flipping open, one-handed.]

[The light of a sunflower momentarily falls on the pages and Pond Fiend quickly looks back over his shoulder to talk loudly in the direction of the wolf.]

Angie, we need you. This man is exposing a young girl to pornography.

The illustrations are very realistic.

[ her tone is bland, because does Maomao know what a photograph is? no. so she can just appreciate what appears to be a very good artist, even if their choice of subject is questionable. ]

unfortunately for every single person involved, Maomao is tiny and underweight and that wolf going for her is absolutely going to knock her straight off her feet. hopefully you can keep hold of her, ]

[Maomao falling is going to tug Shadow Fiend down with her. normally, she'd get right back up, but she doesn't want to break contact with Maomao. so she'll just lie there, on top of Maomao, trying to shield her from another lunge.]

Angel Devil, no!

[Face-Making Devil, now reacting with even quicker reflexes than before, shoves the magazine back into his coat and moves to yank them both up almost as soon as they hit the ground.]

Oooookaaaayyyy! Let's get out of here!! Which way to the bait?!

[But he doesn't wait for an answer. For now, he just starts pulling the two of them—and hopefully Pond Fiend by proxy—to run away from the wolf. They can change course later.]

[Pond Fiend doesn't have time to question whether or not he just watched someone get buffed by a porno mag. It's a struggle just to keep his grip on Maomao.

But speaking of buffs, he does aim a weak neutral spell toward the wolf. It won't do much damage if it hits, but it will apply the freeze debuff. Contrary to the name, this doesn't encase the opponent in ice, but rather makes it difficult for them to apply any positive effects to themselves aside from healing.]

the reflect effect of the Tetrakarn sent the wolf backwards, and it means precious time to start scrambling away and outta here. The will'o'wisp keeps pace ahead of you. It's leading the way, except for the fact that it is trying to subtly arc you all away from the pasture. ]}

[once Shadow Fiend gets her feet under her, she'll start shouting directions, trusting in her shepherd senses to lead them to safety even as the will o' wisp veers away]

[she's bringing up the rear, to shield Maomao from any further attacks and direct the others]

[He'd been subconsciously following the will o' wisp, but pivots as soon as Shadow Fiend gives the order. Since other people are working on shielding and delaying the wolf, he'll just focus on running and finding a clear path out of the mist. Speaking of, he barks his own order as they move—]

—Log! Jump over it!

[He clears it quickly, trying to help haul Maomao over it too, but they're in an awkward configuration for him to be able to help everyone over.]
