[Rose has been running around for the past day and a half, prepping everything they'll need for the mist expedition to save Angel Devil from eternal wolfhood. But in the wee hours of the morning, the night before they planned to head out, Shadow Fiend's bell jingles gently. If she weren't still awake, she might have missed it. But she doesn't, and when she follows a hunch and checks on Angel Devil's location, she gets the distinct ping of a flock member in the pasture—before it recedes back into the vague sense of "in the mist."

So screw tomorrow morning. This might be the best chance they have of avoiding an extended mist expedition. And so, a mass cube call goes out, to all of Rose, and Lethe, Charon, and Maomao, too.]

WAKE UP! Um, sorry. Change of plans, we're going after Angel Devil now. I just sensed him at the edge of the mist. He stepped back inside, but he can't have gone far—this might be our best chance. He's not far from where we planned to meet up tomorrow, too. Okay! See you there.

BAITING THE TRAP (MINGLE)

[Past the fence, in the outer meadow, near the new edge of the mist, a few sunflowers have been activated and tossed onto the grass to guide people over and provide some light for anyone who can see in the dark. More unactivated sunflowers are piled up for those who want them.

In the middle of the sunflowers is the pile of the Angel Devil bait that Rose has prepared: his clothes, favorite bath products, some chopped apples, and a few of the ugly yet comfortable cushions.

The mist expedition party will be heading out as soon as everyone's buffed and ready, but there's still a few minutes to chat first.]

(OOC: Use this top-level for general chit chat. Separate top-levels will come once the party gets started. Rose, feel free to add to the bait pile if you want.)

[Shadow Fiend is busy fussing over the bait, wearing the scale armor she borrowed from Red. The glaive she borrowed from Red is strapped to her back, and she has a couple unlit sunflowers tucked in a makeshift belt. She's got her shepherd's staff in hand, as usual.

She ponders the hasty set-up, thoughtful.]

Maybe I should have brought the sheep after all...

Okay! I only need to say this once, so just bear with it. I think it's honestly pretty amazing that all of you came together this quickly to help out Angel Devil, especially when you didn't have to. I've seen people give up on each other for less. So it means a lot that you're willing to see this through. But no matter what, you all have to make sure you come back alive. Watch each other's backs and be careful. If anyone else turns into a werewolf I'll beat the shit out of you.

[Charon's just doing all his buffs in advance, because they last a while and he's not going to have time if a werewolf bursts in on the scene. after Lethe boosts him they come out as two separate spells that cover four people each, instead of the normal two people each.

both casts comprise ten seconds of little gold lights surrounding him while he concentrates! then the ground under his targets lights up gold and grows little illusory glowing green plants, before the whole spell fades out. everyone targeted feels warmth settle over them like a cloak, tangible but invisible.

Vengeful Child makes each person immune to magical attack, but only once. If Angel Devil casts consecutive spells on you you'd better dodge the second one.

Targeted: Shadow Fiend, Pond Fiend, Face-Making Devil, Maomao, Blood Fiend, Azdaja, Lethe, Melody. not all of them are going in the mist but hey, just in case.]

OUTSIDE THE MIST

[Shadow Fiend, Pond Fiend, Face-Making Devil, and Maomao slowly disappear into the mist. Will all the buffs and shields hold against the newly agitated mist beasts? Who can say. There's no telling how long it will take for them to lure Angel Devil back out of the mist, too. Nothing to do but wait and hope everything goes according to plan.

Careful the Wolf Wisps don't get you.]

[Armed with assorted buffs and shields, fresh sunflowers, and their weapons of choice, Shadow Fiend, Pond Fiend, Face-Making Devil, and Maomao head off into the mist, as close to Angel Devil's last known location as Shadow Fiend can guess.

Shadow Fiend arranges them in a triangle formation, with Pond Fiend and Face-Making Devil on either side of Maomao where they can each touch one of her shoulders, and Maomao behind Shadow Fiend, holding on to her belt.

Once they're fully enveloped by the mist, Shadow Fiend starts pinging for Angel Devil's location.]

BOSS FIGHT

[Eventually—eventually—the mist questers emerge.

First come Face-Making Devil and Maomao, the former practically dragging the latter along at a dead run. A will o' wisp darts out of the mist after them.

Next come Shadow Fiend and Pond Fiend, riding a broomstick-sized branch that shoots straight out of the mist at desperate speed. An orb of magic clips the branch just as they exit the mist, sending them tumbling to the grass.]

[Immediately, once they're finally out of the mist, he whirls around to face what they just left. He isn't even paying attention to the ominous will o' wisp anymore. He's taking his gun back out, prepared for the emergence of the wolf.]

[Well, folks, we did it. Angel Devil is down, rendered unconscious by an exciting cocktail of reflective magical barriers, tranquilizer darts, and dragon venom.

Now Rose must face their next challenge: how in the fuck do you get an unconscious wolf to swallow a flower?]

[When she's finally sure he's no longer moving, she lets go and raises her head, still with a big chuck of long red hair in her mouth.]

AFTERMATH

[With the help of a mysterious benefactor, Rose has finally managed to bring their neurotic indoor dog that got out and was running way too fast around the neighborhood back indoors.

Angel Devil's still out cold, and won't change back for a few hours yet, so for now they can deposit him outdoors, with some vines to hold him down in case he wakes up before sunrise. (The sheep, naturally, are making for the opposite side of the pasture, with sleepy little "baas" of terror, leaving a trail of lost top hats and fascinators in their panicked wake.)

It's late as fuck and it's been a long night but hey! We did it and lived! And were mostly not horribly maimed! And only werewolfed in easily curable ways! Surely this warrants some celebration? Or maybe you just want to go to bed. Both are valid.]

[once Angel Devil is comfy and secured, Shadow Fiend will head back out into the outer meadow--they need to clean up the bait they left behind, and retrieve any unused sunflowers, and of course there are the 9 or so gatordawg corpses to haul back. good thing she doesn't need to sleep!
