[the morning of day 22 begins with a light drizzle, as has been typical for the past few days. but despite the damp weather, a playlist of music also echoes across the pasture, luring you towards the center!]

[there, you will find that someone has planted a large bamboo tree, which is surrounded by wooden tables that are covered with colorful slips of paper and pens. a colorful sign, decorated with random doodles of stars, clouds, suns, and other fun shapes, contains a set of instructions:]

WELCOME TO TANABATA!

WRITE A WISH ON A PIECE OF PAPER AND TIE IT TO THE BAMBOO TREE.

HAVE FUN!

[the music and the bamboo wishing tree are a great start to the festival, but other people have been hard at work to make this a day to remember, right?]

[it's time to celebrate Tana-baa-ta!]

You can be a cat-shaped cat if you want. But it doesn't stop Tart and Biscuit from sleeping on the tree.

Well, yeah, but I don't think they can change shape.

[shrugs and gets comfortable as a person, just to see how it is]

They can't.

How is it?

Hmmm. More comfortable than expected. But a couch lets you sprawl out. I think I've got to give this three and a half stars.

[shifts into a gryphon to loaf half on top of him. activate the lap cat trap.]

Five out of five stars. This is cheating. The results have been compromised.

I'm the cat tree's cat.

Do you come with the tree?

[gives him a lil tiny pat on the head. he does not know if muffin likes skritches or not so he doesn't do more than that]

Is special cafe service.

[grabs his hand with his paws and headbutts it SCRITCHES FOR MUFFIN]

[okay well SCRITCHES FOR MUFFIN THEN!!!]

Just for the cafe? Then I have to take advantage of it while it lasts.

Tree is only outside for limited time!

That's for the best anyways. Otherwise we'd all get distracted every time we walk by.

Some people need the distraction.

Not every day though.
