Me? Nah. I'm not that special. Kevin said he does, though.

Do all demigods get them?
audacity: (🌊 015.)

[personal profile] audacity 2024-07-10 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
[ half-laughs ]

Um, a lot of us. You need a prophecy to go on a quest, so those of us who've gone on any have got one. And there have been two Great Prophecies in my lifetime, though I'm hoping there aren't any more of those for a while.
wants_the_phd: (031)

[personal profile] wants_the_phd 2024-07-10 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
What were they like?
audacity: (🌊 052.)

[personal profile] audacity 2024-07-10 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
Uh. Geez.

[ frowns ]

Scary, horrible, and probably traumatizing? Great Prophecies are always super...yadda yadda, weird cryptic bullshit, probably someone dies, or the world will end.
wants_the_phd: (022)

[personal profile] wants_the_phd 2024-07-10 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
Huh.

Are they, like... warnings? Or are you supposed to do something about them?
audacity: (🌊 028.)

[personal profile] audacity 2024-07-10 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
They're...

[ frowns ]

...they're what will happen. Whether you fight them or not. Whether you try to make them happen or not. They're inevitable. You can sometimes, kind of, get a warning out of them? But they're usually so vague that it's hard to tell what they mean till they happen.
wants_the_phd: (030)

[personal profile] wants_the_phd 2024-07-10 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
Huh.

What were the ones you were talking about in this memory?
audacity: (🌊 066.)

[personal profile] audacity 2024-07-10 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
[ face scrunch ]

The first Great Prophecy. It was about the next child of Poseidon, or Hades, or Zeus to turn sixteen. They'd — well, I'd — have to make a choice that could doom or save Olympus. None of us really knew for sure who it'd be till my sixteenth birthday...like, even if I chose it, if I'd died before then, it probably would've been Kevin.
wants_the_phd: (143)

[personal profile] wants_the_phd 2024-07-10 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
Ah.

I take it it was you, right? What was the choice? Did you already make it?
audacity: (🌊 son of poseidon.)

[personal profile] audacity 2024-07-10 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, when I turned sixteen. Little over a year ago now?

It was...gods. Kind of a long story. But it came down to choosing whether I was going to trust this guy or not. He'd burned me before, a lot. He'd done a ton of awful things. Gotten people I cared about killed, nearly gotten me killed more times than I can count.

But he wanted to make things right. And he was the only one who could. So I chose to let him. It cost his life, but he died a hero and the world was saved.
wants_the_phd: (135)

[personal profile] wants_the_phd 2024-07-10 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, wow. That was lucky.

I don't think everyone would have chosen like you did.
audacity: (🌊 002.)

[personal profile] audacity 2024-07-10 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
Believe me, sometimes I'm surprised that I did. But I knew enough about him to understand how he got that way. And I hoped...like, he wasn't really sorry about most of it. But there was this promise he'd made to protect someone important to him. I hoped he still cared about honoring it, even though he'd already broken it in about a thousand ways. Lucky for all of us that he did.
wants_the_phd: (047)

[personal profile] wants_the_phd 2024-07-10 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
Huh.

So was this really more like his prophesy instead of yours?
audacity: (🌊 hughhhughhh.)

[personal profile] audacity 2024-07-10 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
Kind of, yeah. There are these lines about the hero, who'd die, and those were obviously about him. Other parts were about me — the half-blood who made it to sixteen, some of the things I saw and did. And the choice was still mine, even if it was about him. If I'd turned him down, he couldn't have stopped Kronos.
wants_the_phd: (143)

[personal profile] wants_the_phd 2024-07-10 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
Chronos?

Are you from the same world as him??
audacity: (🌊 this is weird.)

[personal profile] audacity 2024-07-10 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
[ spends a horrifying full minute imagining the titan lord kronos in the pasture before he's like. no that can't be right ]

Kronos, Lord of the Titans? Time guy?
wants_the_phd: (029)

[personal profile] wants_the_phd 2024-07-10 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, yeah, I saw him rewind time once, now that you mention it.

Weird guy, but nice. He shared some fish with me when I was new and hungry. Was gonna teach me how to fight better, but he went home before we could get started.

He was a Lily too, actually.

[ saved before his brain can FULLY BREAK by — ]

So, like, that's the name he chose here. Like me with Cepheus.
wants_the_phd: (030)

[personal profile] wants_the_phd 2024-07-10 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
Right. I don't know anyone's real names.

[Affirmative!! you're safe, cepheus]
audacity: (🌊 052.)

[personal profile] audacity 2024-07-10 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
[ WHEEZE ]

...okay, yeah, different guy. I'm talking about a seriously evil father of all gods, literally.
wants_the_phd: (025)

[personal profile] wants_the_phd 2024-07-10 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
[Even the gods have parents.............]

Huh...

Well I'm... glad you got him?

Good job on your prophesy and not letting the world die...??
audacity: (🌊 016.)

[personal profile] audacity 2024-07-10 11:17 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks, I always count it a good day when the world doesn't die.

You been okay? It's been a little while since we last talked because of my, [ waves hand, ] really long nap.

Eh. I'm alright. Keeping busy.

I'm still curious about your prophesies, though. Have you had any since being here?
audacity: (🌊 006.)

[personal profile] audacity 2024-07-10 05:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah, no problem.

And not yet. Hopefully not ever? You need an Oracle to deliver them. Or like, a book or something that an Oracle wrote. But you need an Oracle in there somewhere. Not just anyone can speak prophecies.
wants_the_phd: (143)

[personal profile] wants_the_phd 2024-07-10 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Is an Oracle giving you a prophesy the thing that makes it happen? Or are these just things that are already going to happen, and the prophesy itself is just a warning of it?

If it's the latter, it seems like it'd be a good thing, right? Except for the stress, I guess?
