It is what it is. Brenda still lived in town, and Paco's still my bro even if I was disappointed in him. We worked it out, and honestly I'm probably still around thanks to how much they've helped me out.

[ Glances over at him ]

Uh, a goddess decided to steal me out of my life, take my memories, and dump me on the other side of the country. For the greater good, supposedly.

Yeah. It was, what, December? I came to in a strange forest in...I still don't actually know. February? March? All I do know for sure is that I was freezing, and alone, and barely knew anything about myself or what was happening. Lupa and the wolves — literal wolves, yeah — found me and trained me, and then I was on my own again until I could find the Roman camp. Which took a while, it's not like wolves give great directions. I got there in June. It was another week or so before I could get my memories back, and I don't recommend the method.

We had to go on another quest pretty much instantly, too, so I didn't actually get home until August. Not too long before my birthday. That was around a month before I landed here.

[ slams the sifter down in aggravation ]

I thought gods weren't supposed to interfere like that! Tell me she didn't get away with fucking around with your life and ditching you in the middle of nowhere.

[ just stops and looks at him ]

Hera, Queen of Olympus? Zeus wasn't thrilled with her, but who's going to hold her accountable?

You might have to fight Zeus too. I'm not sure how much he'd really care, but something something that's his wife even if he cheats on her constantly.

Okay, I do wanna fight him too, but I dunno if I can actually deal with two gods at once.

Actually? Yeah. I battled Ares when I was twelve, and it's never really slowed down.

The war guy?! I'd ask why he was beefing with a kid, but none of them ever have good reasons.

Zeus's and Hades's majorly important power symbols got stolen. I got the blame. Ares was in on it, so he wasn't too thrilled when I figured out what was going on and didn't stick to the script.

What did he expect to happen? A war god's gotta have better strategic planning than that.

You're thinking of Athena. Ares isn't too bright. Besides, it wasn't really his plan.

Then whose plan was it?

[ mouth tugs into a frown ]

The Titan lord Kronos. It was his first move in a very, very long time. Try to start a war between the gods in a way that'd put me on the board and force Poseidon to publicly claim me. It wasn't a bad plan, either. I wasn't actually supposed to be born, so my claiming was almost enough to spark a war by itself.

It's still a shitty plan to try using a kid to start a war. It didn't work out in the end though, did it?

Nah. Annabeth, my best friend Grover, and I set everything straight before it could get that far. That was the first shot of the Titan War, but open hostilities didn't start till a couple of years after that.

Trying to frame a demigod didn't count as open?
