[ WHEW LILY it sure has been a busy week! We have a lot of things to talk about!!

which is to say, we probably have assorted pillows and blankets piled into our new basement living room, with breakfast happening in the kitchen and jellyfish hangin' around elsewhere. and our assorted? fish related prizes??? ]

I mean ... I guess that's true. Sally always seemed pretty stressed whenever I saw her.

But she seemed so kind too. I think you're both lucky to have your moms, even if you stress them out.

I've even got my dad too. He's not always as, y'know, direct, but I know he's just as proud of me as Mom is. I'm lucky to have both of them.

What's your dad like?

Oh, my dad's the best. He owns an auto-shop that he runs himself — well, I guess I'm helping now, but for the longest time he wouldn't let me. Said he wanted me to stay focused on school instead of worrying about money. I think he wants me to go to college even more than my mom does.

He's the one I go to for advice the most. My mom's advice is fine, but I don't like to worry her too much, y'know? I can trust my dad not to talk to her about stuff unless he thinks it's super important.

Your dad doesn't worry as much?

[ a hint of a smile. ]

He does, but...I think he believes in me to figure it out? Or maybe he knows it's easier to just let me try stuff.

And your mom skips that and goes straight to worrying.

She can't help it. She's a nurse so she's always seen the worst case of whatever I'm trying to talk her into.

There's a guy at camp who's kinda like that. Apollo's kids are frequently healers, so...

Apollo's the sun guy, right? I thought he was just about being fast and winning a lot.

I mean, he is? But he's got a lot of things going on. Music, healing, disease ...

Isn't it a conflict of interests to have both healing and disease?

He's really good at it from both angles, I guess.

I guess. Maybe I just don't get gods.

You've never met any, right? Your world doesn't have any?

I don't think I've met any, but I'm pretty sure my world has them. Some people have, like, divine magic and stuff. And there's an actual demon on the Teen Titans.

So you just haven't met them.

Well - if you do meet one, you'll probably see what I mean.

I wouldn't be surprised. I don't think you can go around seriously calling yourself a god without being some kinda asshole.

No, you can say it. The only reason he's better than the average is because the bar is in hell and he lives there already.
