springle (spring mingle)

WHO: you
WHERE: wherever
WHEN: afternoon into evening 61

[the spring thaw continues! how's that scent of fresh wet grass and the sounds of critters popping back up, huh?

towards evening, there's another strange smell on the breeze (ozone? oleander?) and a soft flurry of tiny dark feathers blown into the pasture and meadow.

if they happen to land on you, you may have a weird moment where you experience the perspective of some other, non-sentient creature in the area -- a squirrel scratching about in a nearby tree, for example, or a frog swimming in one of the team ponds, or one of the local songbirds stretching its wings and digging for worms.

it's harmless, and might be interesting, but it's also briefly disorienting. try not to fall on your face or into the lazy river.]
heavyliesthecrown: (Let me think over it)

[Considering he helps Rook hunt, he will not comment on that in front of an adorable fluffy creature.]

At least it is harmless enough. I wonder if plucking one for you could result in the perspective of a human.
jerkalope: (Deprived of all his thoughts)

[personal profile] jerkalope 2024-02-26 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
I've tried! So far no luck. But you didn't immediately jump to my perspective, right? So it may not just be humans.

[ glances at the cat ears ]

...or human adjacent.
heavyliesthecrown: (Ear perk)

[personal profile] heavyliesthecrown 2024-02-26 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
[He blink, before-]

Oh! Well... I am human, actually. These did not appear until my arrival here.
jerkalope: (Never shined in what I've shown)

[personal profile] jerkalope 2024-02-26 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
You could look completely human and still be something different on the inside. I don't want to pre-judge. Especially if it helps me figure out how these things work.

But for my part, I'm a jackalope and not even remotely close to a human. Or a rabbit!!
heavyliesthecrown: (Lots of thinky thoughts)

[personal profile] heavyliesthecrown 2024-02-26 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
You look like a rabbit to me.
jerkalope: (Through constant pained disgrace)

[personal profile] jerkalope 2024-02-26 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
Do rabbits have super cool and impressive horns though? That's something that clearly shows I'm a jackalope!
heavyliesthecrown: (Stage mistake)

[personal profile] heavyliesthecrown 2024-02-26 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe that is the type of bunny you are!
jerkalope: (Never shined in what I've shown)

[personal profile] jerkalope 2024-02-26 05:34 am (UTC)(link)
We're clearly different species! How many rabbits do you usually talk to?
heavyliesthecrown: (This is how a knight does it)

[personal profile] heavyliesthecrown 2024-02-26 05:43 am (UTC)(link)
How many humans usually have cat ears?
jerkalope: (A vow unto his own)

[personal profile] jerkalope 2024-02-26 05:59 am (UTC)(link)
Loads if you go to the right places. I don't judge fur cons but I also don't make a point to visit them.
heavyliesthecrown: (Am I in trouble...)

[personal profile] heavyliesthecrown 2024-02-26 06:05 am (UTC)(link)
Fur...cons?

[He isn't up-to-date with his slang but also he would never have heard about such a thing until just now.]

I do not think those are real cat ears, right? Unless those antlers are also removable.
jerkalope: (Deprived of all his thoughts)

[personal profile] jerkalope 2024-02-26 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
Of course they're removable when I need to shed them. That doesn't make them less jackalope antlers anymore than when deer need to molt their velvet!

And do you think them being magically real is any different than some cosplayer spending hours making animatronics when someone asks for a picture of a resident cat boy?
heavyliesthecrown: (Am I in trouble...)

[personal profile] heavyliesthecrown 2024-02-26 04:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I mean. It does not make them not human.
jerkalope: (Never shined in what I've shown)

[personal profile] jerkalope 2024-02-27 06:41 am (UTC)(link)
But what makes them human in your opinion? If someone was born a human but completely turned into another kind of animal, does it still count for you? How much ratio to cat and boy would tip your opinion?

[ just going to press you on how much of a furry you are, the easy introduction ]
heavyliesthecrown: (The same as always I see...)

[personal profile] heavyliesthecrown 2024-02-27 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Um... perhaps it depends on whether it is reversible or not? If you have been thoroughly changed, and whether or not the changes actually function?

[He hasn't really through that deeply over this.]

Many different circumstances could cause the ears I possess right now to completely vanish. I have no control over it. And while both my ears and tail move, my ability to hear or see better never changed from that of a normal human. It is all simply cosmetic, in the end.
jerkalope: (So I dub thee unforgiven)

[personal profile] jerkalope 2024-02-28 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
So if you stumble would your tail move to try and correct your balance? Would that count as having some advantage.

I have to say, with all the pretty boys around here drawing a line in the sand between functional and cosmetic is a little arbitrary. After all, the refrigerator ritual back before the kidnappings had your flocks making Frankenstein monsters out of all kinds of parts. Did you think of how to classify them as you were pasting those limbs together?
heavyliesthecrown: (Am I in trouble...)

[personal profile] heavyliesthecrown 2024-02-28 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
I simply thought I was making a Frankenstein monster.
jerkalope: (The young boy learns their rules)

[personal profile] jerkalope 2024-02-28 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
You know the original creature for that was made entirely out of human parts though, right? Except for his creator's rejection, he would have qualified as a bona fide human using your criteria.
heavyliesthecrown: (Tired of it)

1/2

[personal profile] heavyliesthecrown 2024-02-28 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
How did we even wind up here...

If you wish to be called a Rabbitlope I will do so regardless. Though I imagine simply using your name would be more polite.
heavyliesthecrown: (Like a gentleman)

2/2

[personal profile] heavyliesthecrown 2024-02-28 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
[He lifts a hand to his chest.]

My name is Crescendo. It is a pleasure.
jerkalope: (Won't see what might have been)

Re: 2/2

[personal profile] jerkalope 2024-02-28 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
[ his only purpose in life is to make people question their ethics and troll, sorry ]

Jackalope, but you can call me Warden. Just don't call me a rabbit.
heavyliesthecrown: (You say that like it's a bad thing)

Re: 2/2

[personal profile] heavyliesthecrown 2024-02-29 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
'Warden' is an unusual name. What made you choose it?
jerkalope: (What I've felt what I've known)

[personal profile] jerkalope 2024-02-29 05:05 am (UTC)(link)
It came up during the conversation I had with the Judge. We thought those names suited our respective jobs.
heavyliesthecrown: (Lots of thinky thoughts)

[personal profile] heavyliesthecrown 2024-03-01 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
Ah... Nocturne-san. He disappeared recently. I suppose those names make sense though. They both have similar connotations, and you were and are both weeds.

You are a warden, then?
jerkalope: (He tries to please them all)

[personal profile] jerkalope 2024-03-02 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
[ tilts his head a little at hearing Judge not being around, darn he liked the guy too. ]

That's right. Pretty high ranking too, lots of subordinates to look out for besides keeping track of rowdy murderers.
