[GOOOOOD MORNING. It's still a bit chilly out, despite it being sunny, and there's still flurries here and there. All fairly normal and pleasant. Maybe you're out stretching, or collecting the morning milk delivery, or tending to your gardens and sheep. All is peaceful and quiet in the serene pasture.

Until, from the mist, something zips out. An arrow of sorts. It shoots through the air at lightning speed, its target suddenly obvious as it strikes a large landmark in the center of town--the eye of the fountain.

If you weren't awake already, the sudden painful howl from death might do the trick.

Its wail doesn't last, but the eye IS open now. . .by force? The eye seems to be being held open by strange, smokey claws. They are semi tangible, but probably you don't want to touch them.

But wait, that's not all! The ground rumbles a bit before settling? A minor quake? Who knows. But more importantly, in both the pasture within the fence and the meadow, strange mushrooms begin to pop up. Occasionally they shoot out pollen and spores, and drift through the air. They can be picked, but after a few hours, two seem to grow back in their place, so be careful with that.

DANG WONDER WHAT ALL IS GOING ON--oh hey there's Blossom? She's carrying a small basket of biscuits in her mouth along with. . .Bluebell's Shepherd Staff? wuh oh.]

Every~thing is gonna be okay~

[stares at the mushroom and the eye and]

MUSHROOMS
If you get hit by by the spores, one of three effects are available:
-Level 1, minor effect - No outward effects but plagued with horrible, realistic nightmares to the point of preferring to try to stay awake
-Level 2, Fear Hallucinations; you suddenly see hallucinations of things you fear
-Level 3, Intense feelings of hatred for any particular person suddenly come to the surface/take over, making you prone to violence

Additionally If anyone eats, licks, or otherwise deliberately excessively inhales mushroom spores, let me know *immediately* as it will trigger something unskippable for you. ETA N/M THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS LMAO

Note that these can be avoided by just saying whoops ur character didn't get close to one golly. These effects can lessen over time at your convenience but won't disappear completely until you cure them--how? That's up to yall! MAKE UP A FEAR ANTIDOTE. Ping me if your character tries something and I will yay or nay it.

There is ALSO a source of the mushrooms, but to find it, Stuff will need to happen.

THE EYE
If you try to touch the creepy mist hands, you will instantly pass out unconscious, feel zapped, or feel your heart skip a beat. Don't push your luck for now, but they CAN be removed. How again? Characters will have to make up a way ICly; though in this case a solution won't be approved til oocly after the 15th.

If we want to do something productive, we should check the waterways and make sure nothing suspicious will slip through that way undetected. Or ask the Forever Snake for advice or help.

And how do you think we just ask the Forever Snake anything?

I told you it's probably not a good idea to try to pull him into our affairs.

I do not think it will hurt to at least ask him some questions or for some advice. I spoke with Lady Death recently and I asked about the Forever Snake just a little.

Apparently, he is the keeper of time. He must at least have some of the answers to the missing puzzle pieces we seek.

And how, exactly, do you plan on summoning him?

. . . I think we would have to search for him. But... surely there must be a method of summoning, too? We have scales and blood.

It does not hurt to try. I can try it myself, or perhaps seek advice from Red?

In the meantime, though, I really do think we ought to make sure the waterways are secure.

I was also thinking... you froze them before, right? The mist wolves? My charm does not work on them... but do all flock abilities simply not work on them? Or just some?

I couldn't say.

If the wolves are magical creations there may be no mind to properly charm. They may require attacks that are also magical in nature if any damage is to be done.

If they break through or are attempting to, perhaps we could work together drawing them to the water then?

I am not sure if my ability to magnetize others would work for them or not. I will have to discuss that with my flock. But if we could draw them to a water source where they can be easily frozen by those who possess magic, it might be at least one tactic that would work well against them.

I hadn't expected to be drawn into an actual offensive like this.

If the mist wolves breach our defenses, we will be attacked whether we wish to be drawn in or not. The fact that they have pried the eye open leads me to believe they certainly intend us a great deal of harm right now.

Our best strategy is to build our defenses, but also to consider what we must do if they fail. We must be ready for all scenarios.

It could mean they intend to do us harm, but it also means that we can't rely on being revived. They want the danger to be real and nothing we can dismiss - even though they have to know that they can't keep the eye open forever.

Perhaps they feel if they can keep the eye open, we can be permanently killed, if they manage to wipe out all of us.

It's possible, though I would argue that seems a little shortsighted on their part. But we don't know enough about them to say that.

The most I can grasp about them is that they seem to enjoy violence.

They are wolves. It makes sense that they'd go on the offensive.

We are not real sheep, though.

What we are and what they see us as may be two different things.

We're sheep as far as the mist is concerned.
