I wonder what he bases his choices on.

His own whims, most likely. I messed with him way before he gave me the first two quests, then didn't talk to him for a while, so playing Russian Roulette can't have been an immediate retaliation to anything.

Has he ever issued an impossible quest, to your knowledge?

I suppose that depends on who you ask. Azdaja seemed to think what he gave her was rather impossible.

That phrasing leads me to think you disagree.

We all have our different hang-ups.

That's true. Either way, they're probably assigned as per his whims, within the constraints of logistical possibility for the quest owner. I'd be surprised if he asked a civilian with no combat training to kill a Jim Deer alone.

He did ask one person to drown who probably wouldn't have done it without assistance.

anyway, they're here, in a part of the meadow beyond the fence and over a hill. there's an obviously fake-looking patch of grass on the ground. stops on top of it, turning back to Levi. ]

immediately, the fake ground beneath them begins to lower like an elevator. the descent is quick, almost plummeting, but there's a sense of calm, no danger whatsoever.

once they stop, they find themselves in a cave. the stars from before are no longer here, but Akrinak still has his lighthouse. he activates it, the blue glow illuminating the wall in front of them.

Leviathan may have seen pictures of the mural. neither of them can read the text, but they both came here knowing that already. ]

Your call. We want to cover the whole area eventually, so it doesn't really make a difference.

I've ridden on their back, spoken with them, and seen their true form.

It was an unexpected run-in. They were very polite about it.

Though admittedly there was something of a fall at first. Purely accidental.

If you feel like telling the story, I'm all ears.

There's not a whole lot to tell.

My brother and I were searching the tunnels behind the salt caves. We heard the rumble of something large approaching, only to have the ground crumble underneath us. I know we fell. I might have blacked out temporarily. That part is a bit fuzzy.

We were passengers on the snake. I thought we might be inside, since the area around us became so surreal - like looking through several monitors at various scenes all at once, but it seems we were on its back. It talked to us for a bit, apologized, asked us about ourselves, then returned us to the caves.

Curious. The holy beasts here have been strangely kind to us mortals.

The Forever Snake seemed more curious than anything. I don't know if they would put off their own goals to lend us any aid unless we had something to offer them in return.

Blossom said making bargains with demons was an easier option than making them with the holy beasts - perhaps because the demons are so much simpler in nature.
