WHEN: Day 33, around lunchtime

[ Since it is a Daffodil rite, the Daffodils (at least, the ones that are not children who have no idea what they're doing and therefore aren't Tart, the best baby shepherd ever) have set up a little party in the rec room for all the kids and their poor beleaguered adults!

They've set up snacks and pulled out a few games as well as some pillows from the library for naptime and books — including picture books — nearby before putting the word out to others to stop by the rec room around lunchtime. And hey, if they have anything they can bring along, all the better! ]

[ said lightly, a joking tone ]

My mama will when she wakes up from the nap Sonata said she was taking!!!

Don'tcha know? Miss Sugar's part'a Daffodil. I'm her boss.

[there's a momentary flash of panic that crosses her face and her voice breaks just a little]

Not her! I love her but my mama is named Miyako and I was told she was here somewhere!!

. . . No use hiding it, yanno? I know Nyx, too.

Why do you know that then. You can't tell anyone! It'll ruin Sugar's career!

I told ya, Miss Sugar's part'a my flock—she told me 'bout you two herself. And I wouldn't do anything to ruin her career—what's said in this pasture stays in this pasture.

You swear? Promise? Like—super promise?? It'd be a huge scandal.

[secondbornsun]

Who d'ya think you're talkin' to?

I'm a prince. I know all about scandals and how to avoid 'em.

... Okay. As long as it stays secret. I don't want anything to happen to her 'cause someone found out.

[ thinks abt miss sugar being dead back in their world and that's why she's in sleep mode now ]

Aa. I get it.

[someone doesn't know the why at this age!!!]

... I wanna go see her, why can't I go see her?

[there's a long, long pause, with some of the momentary panic and worry revealing itself again and suddenly she seems a lot older.]

Is she sick? I don't want her to be sick. Would I make her sick? Is she supposed to be in, um, isolation? She has doctors, right?

[secondbornsun]

Yeah, she's got doctors. Hmmmh. . . you don't have magic in your world, right?

Magical germs work a li'l differently from biological germs, but in some aspects, they're similar—people got certain tolerances and not.

Basically—she's got allergies to some of the magic here. Namely, ritual magic. So while the ritual's goin' on, she's hidin' out elsewhere so she don't get a bad reaction.

... Oh.

I—... but she'll be fine, right? She's not going to have anything bad happen to her if she's... wherever she is?

Yeah, nothin' bad's gonna happen to her. We got a good system in place, magical barriers t'keep the ritual magics and such out, yanno. She's safe.
