[ at some point mid-morning, a pasturewide cubecall goes out: ]

I'm holding lessons in Daffodil's pasture. Come if you want to, don't if you don't.

[ yeah, that's it. that's the whole thing. BUT if you do show up, the apothecary cat has set up several stations outside of her little workshop/cathouse: a makeshift firepit with a wooden drying rack, several large pots of varying sizes, and is currently in the process of chopping up a pygmidillo. and I do mean chopping. we are cleaving through bone here.

* For those who would notice, the ribbons in her hair are now Daffodil-yellow, but her collar is still black. ]

Oh--we have something similar! Pickles are also a good addition to things like that.

Mm! Pickled plums end up in them a lot, but I don't... know how to pickle things. We've just been putting some grilled fish or meat in it.

If you have plums and salt and time, it can be done.

[using her little sister rights she's gonna take off and waltz right on into lily's yard and take some plums ok]

[ Tart gave her permission to use what Daffodil has on hand, so when Lyra returns, Maomao has fetched a small jar and some salt, as well as some fresh water. they can do this thing. teamwork! ]

Excellent. We just need to wash and pit these, and then they'll be ready for the salt.

It's very easy if you know the trick.

It will take a short while, but other than the waiting, the rest is also very simple. See?

If you use sugar, you can make alcohol with it.

I bet Lily would appreciate knowing that.

We have all of our grapes and I know it can be used to make wine, but I don't know how to do that either. I've never had to make alcohol, either.

It actually starts as a syrup. You can allow it to ferment into wine, or you can boil it down for sweets. So both treatments are good, depending on what you want.

[she nods... and makes note of that in a notebook she brought with her too, she has a lot of notes actually

You can do that with most softer fruit, in fact... the sugar, at least. Some don't taste good with the salt preservation. With harder fruit, you'll want to cut it into pieces. As long as they're not exposed to the air, they should keep for a good long time.

Is there anything we can't preserve here?

Not preserve, but I can't get the wolfsbane to grow. Or my limbus bulbs.

I know I don't know a lot about plants, but maybe it's the conditions? It's a lot different deep in the forest or out in the mist. So maybe it's like how some flowers have little tabs that say "this does better in the shade!" or something?

Fantasia said it had something to do with the growing conditions of the forest... ah.

I told Charon that if someone could request a greenhouse that duplicates those conditions, we might be able to actually grow some out here.

I wonder if we could ask Blossom for that kind of thing...

Or someone can win it. I don't know if we can quest for community things, I only know we can get the sheep to temporarily make something.

...Then, my formal request to those of you on flocks is to please consider this. The current greenhouse and garden are both very nice, but I think it would be useful to have alternate conditions as well.
