Exactly. And I don't want to have to argue with her or try to placate her. I don't exactly want to make an enemy out of her either though given that the black collars can affect the rituals.

In some of them, yes. There was the one with the secrets, apparently the black collars had their own set as a sadistic sort of bonus. You were able to interfere and later assist with that family thing. And during the last ritual, I saw them walking about and discussing things with people while being completely unaffected.
