A heart's a heart, amigo. Yours functions, ehh . . . differently from what I've seen, but it's still your heart.

It... but it isn't normal.
[No one else lacked a heartbeat. He had asked quite a few mercenaries, before Jeralt told him to stop, and everyone had always looked at him strangely, thinking he was making an off colour joke or just being weird, as usual. Jeralt, as well, made sure Chronos knew how to heal himself if Jeralt couldn't do it, in case a medic realised his lack of heartbeat and came to awkward conclusions.
For most of his life, Chronos had internalised that it was strange and unnatural, whatever was going on in his chest cavity, so he was a little startled at Crois's easy dismissal of it, despite getting an eyeful of whatever was in there.]

[ He shrugs his shoulders. He's seen enough messed up stuff in this world. A stone functioning as a heart? Sure. He could buy it. It just functioned differently than a traditional heart, but it still served the same purpose. ]

[He wasn't sure how to put his very incoherent feelings into words about it. he dropped his hand from his chest and heaved a very quiet sigh.]
...I suppose it just frustrates me. In my world, no one else is like this, not even my father. While it may be 'my heart', it's only mine, so no one else really... I'm not making any sense.
[Stupid, incomprehensible emotions.]

[ He tips his head to one side. ]
So you feel like an outsider?

So, after a pause, he nodded slightly, lowering his gaze.]

Well, if it helps, I fully intend on trying to understand what exactly is going on with your heart so you know for the future. And, ehh . . . for what it's worth, I think a lot of us here are outsiders in our own way.
no subject
You are?
[Crois: continuing to surprise him!]
I'd be grateful for any insight you can share, though... I'm not sure what I can give in return. Um, I'm good at fishing?

It's been decades since I've gone fishing. Maybe we'll go sometime together, eh?
