[Life has been SLICING in the pasture, good shit!! It's also been getting a lot warmer. Well, it is summer(?) spring(?) there is no calendar here don't worry about it.

But there is some SIGNFICANT heat coming from a portion of the fence and--oh. oh no. Is that Patches? Is he setting the fence on--yeah he's setting the fence on fire. Is anyone surprised??

As soon as the wood burns away, mist begins pouring into the pasture, forming into foggy, wolf-like beast. It snaps up the first sheep it sees, shaking it like a ragdoll and leaving it a messy pulp before looking for bigger prey.

But that isn't the only issue. More mist is still pouring through the broken fence, but. . .it's not forming wolves. It's just creepily, quickly, spreading across the pasture.

BUT THAT'S NOT ALL. So anyone who had those friendship stars? They begin to jingle just as the fence breaks. Then they float into the air. . .and shoot off. They're not so fast that you can't follow them, however, and they're heading to outer meadow.

SO WHAT'S HAPPENING?

1) STARS. Wanna ignore this shit and follow your star? Do so here.

2) But for real someone should probably deal with the FENCE and WOLF before Patches lets more murderwolves in.

3) Ain't got time for either of that? Away from the nonsense! Cool! The mist is still creeping about. If you happen to inhale or walk through or otherwise come in contact with the mist, you'll experience on of two effects:
A) Prey - You are suddenly overcome with emotion and extremely clingy. You want someone to comfort you-you might cry on them. You might hug them, begging them to stay with you. You just want someone there with you.

B) Predator - What is this IRRITATION. You're fussy, you're in a sour mood, and you want to know where YOUR PEOPLE ARE. You find yourself being far more protective than normal and snapping at anyone who you deem a threat, or at anyone who doesn't want to be yours.

OR YOU JUST COMPLETELY MISS THIS, IT'S FINE. It's just one wolf! How hard can this be!]

[Charon gets to feel a very new sensation--like when he grabs at its soul, something grabs back, full of hate, full of malice, trying to pull him toward the wolf, which turns to lock its glowing eyes on him.

yeah we love bad decisions in the name of science. plants himself -- as best as he can when this isn't physical -- and drags at the line he's got hooked in it, fingers clenching tight around his shepherd's staff]

WELP. As the wolf start to lurch at him, whatever he's hooked on, it reverberates through his own soul. A laugh, mocking, taunting.

Is this it? All that stands between me and my last meal?

The force pulls back, and Charon will start to feel cold, like his own soul is slipping.]

[mmmmm no thank you he's still actively fighting it right this second, sending an answer back:

What. Too much of a coward to come for a Shepherd yourself?]

[another echoing laugh, it rattles his brain, pounds against his ears]

I have no time to waste on such a meager helping.

[There's a final tug, and Charon can almost feel the life being yanked out of him, but it stops just at the last moment.

And then there's a blowback. An unseen force, a darkness, it feels as if he's being hit by a truck of a bricks, along with a burning sensation in his chest. It's like a beast has struck him, and if he checks later. . .he'll find there our four, deep red claw marks on his chest. The burn when touch, but more concerningly, they act as a seal--

For two IC days he will be incapable of ANY magic whatsoever, aside from his Shepherd instincts.

But other than that, he's unharmed.

Well at least for now, there's still the actual wolf leaping at him now--]

[WELL that fucking SUCKS all around

but never say he doesn't regroup fast. he staggers hard as that hits him but doesn't go down; he's still planted enough on his feet to deal the wolf an absolutely solid wallop with his staff as it descends on him, putting his strength into knocking its head and claws aside.]

The staff is sturdier than it seems, and it's quite effective, as the wolf is stunned, and it angrily shakes its head, before blindly chomping at the air]

[drags in a deep breath, ignoring the burning in his chest to smash the staff down on its skull again, but uhhhh he's also catching someone's eye at this point HE NEEDS SOME BACKUP]

[hey someone gets a physical power boost when he's protecting his flock!!!

Lethe doesn't know that but he is coming in to punch the wolf in the nose, long enough to get it away from Charon]

The wolf doesn't even dodge, not at all bothered by a mere mortal trying to punch it. . .

But Lethe hits hard. so hard in fact the wolf is blown backwards, stunned as flies into the repaired fence, mist rapidly seeping from it as it grows smaller.]

[PAUSES BECAUSE HE'S SO HECKIN' CONFUSED and exchanges a look with Charon]

[GOES TO PUNCH IT AGAIN. this is a viable strategy now.]

[yeah these two dudes are just going to hit this wolf real good with their fists and a stick for a bit. they have done the stupid thing so now they will do the simple thing]
