[ She shifts Perci in her arms, sliding him over; there's a cane settled upon his person, as well. ]

[He accepted Perci easily enough, hoisting him into his arms and holding him in a perfect bridal carry. The cane remained in place.]

I won't. [He seems pretty steady in Byleth's arms.] May I ask how he came to be like this?

... I dunno. I heard a loud scream nearby, so I went to check out what it was, and found him blacked out on the ground, along with, uh... a bunch of dead birds around.

[A bunch of dead birds? That was troubling. Byleth's expression conveyed none of his uneasy thoughts, however, and instead he dipped his head in gratitude.]
