Re: THE OFFICE
I could simply take our forces and invade your pasture fully. You all seem safe enough there, I'm sure our survivors would be as well.
Re: THE OFFICE
The protections would crumble immediately if you tried to take it for yourselves by force. I wouldn’t risk it, if I were you.
Why do you insist on fighting us, when cooperation could bring you so much more?
Re: THE OFFICE
[he spreads his arms. LOOK AT HIS OFFICE BRO]
You've all been nothing but thorns in our side. Yes, I admit to striking first, but only after finding you cretins crawling around our territory, and watching those miserable sheep refuse to help until now. And not just us--there were several other smaller pastures in dire need. We helped them, not their precious prince.
In fact, if you're so sincere, why isn't he here now?
Re: THE OFFICE
[in fact—]
If I give you an honest and more thorough answer as to why Prince Stormia is not at this meeting, would you take it as a sign of good faith? The words are not mine, so you cannot accuse me of twisting my perception of the situation to our pasture’s benefit.
Re: THE OFFICE
[eyebrow raise]
While you could simply lie. . .sure. Let's hear it.
Re: THE OFFICE
[takes a very deep breath in and then lets it out, dwindling back into a human with the exhale. reaches—slowly!—into one of his coat pockets, to retrieve the handheld voice recorder he carries
if CEO doesn’t like, shoot him for doing that, he’ll walk forward and place it on the desk, sliding it over]
Re: THE OFFICE
[u don't know if he has a gun!! (he absolutely has a blick in his drawer)]
[but does just. look at the recorder. looks at charon. still mostly hung up on how the fuck did this sheep turn into a dragon he definitely has not always been a dragon,,
but picks up the recorder and hits play.]
Re: THE OFFICE
“O-okay.
Um. As most of you might know already, I'm, I'm not a sheep. I'm a wolf! But not even that, I'm half demon. My father, the Wolf King, re-married after his first wife passed--that was Ceo's mother--and didn't know he was marrying a demon. Ummm, some stuff, happened. Like, really bad stuff, and he had to destroy her and it put him in a really bad place. Ever since then, both sheep and wolfkind have been way more wary of demons, and stopped relying on them for bargains, and have been trying to use dream magic as more of a more uuuuuh predictable way of getting stuff done. Some people, like me and other priests, still know how to summon them for rituals tho.
A-anyway! I did. . .lie. . .cuz I wanted to live in the pasture for a while and well, you all know what happened. Father went crazy with grief, and I could have come clean, but so many people got hurt, I thought it wouldn't be fair for me to just go oops!! Sorry!!! And get off with everything. Cuz, I'm technically a princess!! They weren't gonna punish me or anything y'know???
S-so my plan was, before coming clean, was to restore EVERYTHING back to the way it was! Retrieve the souls of the dead, helps those afflicted by the King's curse, reverse all the damage, and then. . .whatever happens to me. . .can happen.
That's still the plan, but.
My mother, the Mother of Demons was revived, and I can feel her coming!! Last time she tried to take the souls of all of wolf-kind, and this time I think she'll try to take yours. So!! I want to stop her!!
And, and.
I don't know how, but if you all would help me, I'd be appreciative forever.
. . .
Also I ate Stormy's soul to keep him safe, he was just able to walk around like normal as long as I was nearby and he didn't really know about it til recently. Aside from his deal with the Earth Spirit, it's probably why his memory is so bad.
Also also sorry for possibly killing Miss Lady you are very lovely but also mean but you did not deserve all that.
D. . .did I miss anything.”
Re: THE OFFICE
This. . .is the voice of that sheep, the one responsible for this mess. Of course she's still alive.
What on earth is she talking about? Just feeding you all lies? And how--does she know that. . .?
Re: THE OFFICE
At this juncture I’m wondering if she’s magically bound you not to be able to tell who she is, entirely separately from sealing off your real name.
She’s your sister. She isn’t dead. What reason would I have to craft this to somehow fool you? If I wanted to lie to get you on our good side, don’t you think I’d have come up with something less outrageous and likely to rile your temper?
Why didn’t you ever look in her book before you gave it to Clover?
Re: THE OFFICE
They exchanged the book for the body they stole. The body I have. That's my sister.
I couldn't open the book because there was a magical seal over it. Every time I opened it, it appeared as gibberish to me.
. . .
[wait shit why would that--]
Oh my god.
Re: THE OFFICE
[weary gesture at the voice recorder]
A mess.
I sincerely hope you are better at handling your romances than your sister is.
Re: THE OFFICE
People have died,
Re: THE OFFICE
Re: THE OFFICE
I don't. . .can't understand it.
What if I had killed her?? What if Father had caught her?
This is absurd.
Re: THE OFFICE
This is a heartfelt entreaty. We are all so tired.
Re: THE OFFICE
Why, I don't know.
[and, a little frown, hurt. He taps at his chin.]
I didn't realize she developed a sense of self hatred. Troubling.
Re: THE OFFICE
Re: THE OFFICE
[points at naythan sleeping in a little basket like an office dog]
My partner is a zombie pony! What does she even MEAN?
[HUFFS]
When. . .you return. Can you tell her to come home?
Re: THE OFFICE
She did see the world go to hell and know herself as the cause, these past centuries. I know it has been harder on you in many ways, but—
If you try to be kind to each other, it may help. I’ve never seen someone so determined to bite off more than they can chew, with the best of intentions and the worst of outcomes.
That said. I can ask her, but I don’t know if she would listen. Is there something of yours I can give her, to help convince her? Or another message in your voice that I may carry back?
Re: THE OFFICE
[he takes the device, and hits record.]
I'm sending the body back.
Please come home.
[he places it back on the desk]
Re: THE OFFICE
Thank you.
Perhaps if we succeed in our efforts to bring your father back to his senses, things can finally start looking up for all of you. And all of us, too.
Re: THE OFFICE
Mm.
Re: THE OFFICE
he’s only like 20% mad now]
My sympathies, sir.
My companions seem to have covered the points about the actual material deals we wanted to make with you, so I’ll wait until you’ve concluded with them. I’m willing to guarantee what they propose, if you need that from us as a group.
