We're at least not stupid enough to wander into the mist while the eye is open. We waited until it was closed to fulfill Red's quest.

[a beat]

Ah. . . I should tell you about that, too.

We asked him to be our priest, right? He agreed, but we had to fetch his body from the golden demon's cave first.

Really. How fascinating.

And that's only the beginning.

The cave was in ruins when we got there, obviously. The golden statues were reduced to rubble when we blew it up. But Red told us his body was there, so. . . we looked around.

Until we found a golden statue that wasn't destroyed.

Hmm. Only the one?

[nods]

It was a short person with a tall hat. We thought it was Red's body at first, but when we touched the statue, the gold melted away.

. . . and it turned out to be another Weed instead.

There was a Weed trapped out there? Fascinating.

It sounds like they were there willingly, and asked the golden demon to trap them in a golden statue on purpose.

[. . . . . .]

They were "tired."

[WHICH IS VALID, BUT. . .]

. . .

So an idiot.

They were super stressed out, so I'm giving them a bit of leeway.

I will not.

[an amused laugh, before he continues]

Anyway, we freed the Weed, but they had some kind of time-rewinding power. The destroyed cave started to rebuild itself, which included the broken statues.

[his jaw sets tightly]

And. . . the golden ram demon himself.

So you had your third confrontation, did you not?

No, actually.

[oh???]

As much as I wanted to beat the shit out of him a third time, we weren't there for the demon. We were there for the statues.

So we grabbed as many of them as we could carry-- including the one that turned out to be Red's body-- and got the hell out of there.

I see. Well, I admire your restraint.

Hah. I wouldn't if I were you.

. . . now that he's back, he can kidnap people and turn them into golden statues again. Just like he did with Charon.

[ there's a moment where she just stares at him and then raises an eyebrow, like. yeah ok and?

I understand the sentiment behind what you are saying. And I do agree — it's quite dangerous. But even more dangerous would be to have taken him on then and there without any plan in mind.

[ ................... but like. if he takes charon, she ain't losin' sleep over it. ]
