Mm, no. The dragons and griffins I know are both faster than an airplane. But the difference is that a plane can fly over the ocean for much longer without stopping.

His technology is probably closer to what my world will develop itself, in time. What an odd thought.

Probably. ...Wow, that is weird to think about. You don't have magic schools like his, do you?

Not as such. It comes of Runes being items rather than inborn abilities, I suppose. They’re not hard to use, and you can change or remove them as long as a Rune Sage is on hand. Much more manageable without formal schooling.

Ah, right. They're more like magic items than inherent skills. It seems more flexible as long as you have the aptitude. But there's also a lack of variety.

[shakes his head]

Runes have enormous variety. It’s just that some types are rarer than others.

Are there Runes that have skills like mine?

Nothing like yours. There are many that bolster and buff, but yours are very comprehensive.

That's what I was thinking of with variety. When someone Awakens, their skills are unique to them. Lots of people have similar skills still, even when it's like that.

Unique Runes exist as well, but they’re very rare. Since they aren’t really passed on from the individual or family who has them, there hasn’t been much study made of them.

I've heard you talk about this before. Back when you were testing my aptitude, I think. I like hearing you talk about your home.

I didn't remember until you said it out loud. I know there are places you can't go at the moment, but once the dust settles you should take me on a tour of your favorite places. It'll probably be a few years, given how much we have to do. But it's good to make plans. That way we have something to look forward to.

A few years would enable me to learn about where I’m going and find places to go there, as well. All my knowledge of it is from books, political observation, and hearsay.
