Get on the Down With Fish bus

WHO: Lilybells, House Wardens, Azdaja, others??
WHERE: Lily War Room
WHEN: Day 71 morning

[ After a few different discussion, Lily and Bluebell have invited some allies to discuss a problem and make some plans. They've probably put out like. Berries and water. Mute and Ananke stand at the front of the room, them speaking and him providing large illusions of the presentation. ]

Lights please. Ananke.

AI generated crystal city

This is Eph'meris. It is not my home but . . . where I was most recently before . . . arriving in the Meadow. Next.

rotting cartoon piranha in front of fantasy space backdrop

This is Meris. Meris was once the primordial . . . sea goddess that formed Eph'meris and its people. Now she is a . . . festering mass of malice, squatting in the astral sea and longing only . . . to drag all life she encounters with her into the abyss. Next.

This is the Merisian Pillar Array, which turns one or several individuals into the "Pillar" of Eph'meris. It allows the bulk of Meris's hatred, necrotic power, and general "evil bullshit" to be visited on . . . that one or several persons rather than . . . reality itself. It also fortifies those individuals' . . . bodies to bear this malice without being destroyed. It also . . . kills them. Next.

This is a small piece of the Merisian Pillar Array, that we are . . . currently calling the "Gate". It's purpose is to . . . ensure that the energy exerted by Meris upon reality is directed at the selected Pillar, but also that . . . some of this energy may be siphoned off to the Merisian power grid. I am told . . . this is "like electricity but worse" but I don't . . . actually know what electricity is. Next.

[pats his shoulder]

I'm glad you're planning ahead. The limbus body is fine, then?
featherduster: sheepish (hyuk hyuk hyuk)

[ Weak conflicted thumbs up ]

Full battery.
mykidisthebest: (fever dream)

[personal profile] mykidisthebest 2024-04-06 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
This might be a weird question, but there isn't anything in your current body that you need to transfer over, is there?
featherduster: ?, unsure, neutral (pic#17097801)

[personal profile] featherduster 2024-04-06 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Not exactly. It's more like...

[ Frowns down at his prosthetic arm ]

I'm a little disappointed about losing the utility, but I can't think of anything else.
mykidisthebest: (Don't look back)

[personal profile] mykidisthebest 2024-04-06 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
[blinks back some surprise]

If you're more comfortable having a prosthetic arm then we can just cut the arm off of your limbus body and get it set up for a prosthetic instead. It'd be better to do that while it doesn't have you in it.
featherduster: !, ? (pic#16703756)

[ Wait.

Holy shit.

He never once considered this. ]
mykidisthebest: ('til the words I tell myself are covered)

[Minuet.]

If you give Aides the limbus body I bet he could set it up in an hour or two.

[personal profile] featherduster 2024-04-06 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Hacking off a perfectly good arm does feel a little gratuitous, even for me.
mykidisthebest: (So let’s pretend a little longer)

[personal profile] mykidisthebest 2024-04-06 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
It's too late to say that when there's already a perfectly good arm laying in Charon's study.
featherduster: ehe (my icons are getting dumber)

[personal profile] featherduster 2024-04-06 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
In my defense, I was not a participant in its removal.

mykidisthebest: (But you stayed by my side)

[personal profile] mykidisthebest 2024-04-06 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)
You didn't put it back on, though. There's nothing wrong with doing what you feel is most comfortable with your body, is my point.
featherduster: sheepish, sigh, tired (haaaaah)

[personal profile] featherduster 2024-04-08 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
That's... honestly a more tempered opinion than I expected. Thank you.
mykidisthebest: (For a first effort this)

[personal profile] mykidisthebest 2024-04-08 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
[shrugs]

It just makes sense to be comfortable in your own body. If we're doing that for Mute, then we can do that for you at the same time.
featherduster: sheepish (pic#16836640)

[personal profile] featherduster 2024-04-08 02:10 pm (UTC)(link)
[ "Comfortable in your own body" FACE SAYS: LMAO and also DOUBT ]

Mm. Mute first, though.
mykidisthebest: (While I’m by your side)

[personal profile] mykidisthebest 2024-04-08 07:07 pm (UTC)(link)
That's fine. It gives you plenty of time to think about what you feel most comfortable with.

[that's a threat. you'd better think about it.]
featherduster: sheepish (pic#16835998)

[personal profile] featherduster 2024-04-08 08:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I know this might sound stupid, but I'll probably need to see what it's like to have a left arm before I decide? It's been a long time. I wouldn't wanna make the decision now.

So, it might have to be after sticking me in there.
mykidisthebest: (we're blooming forth from the envy)

[personal profile] mykidisthebest 2024-04-08 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
...Testing it out is the most practical thing to do.

[there's a flicker of upset at the thought of potentially chopping off an arm when he's already in the body somewhere down the line, but quickly shakes it off]

If you like the utility of having a metal arm but don't necessarily want to get rid of a flesh arm in the end, you could always try getting some kind of metal glove fitted too. It might be bulkier than you're used to, but that's also worth considering.
featherduster: !, excite (wow!)

[personal profile] featherduster 2024-04-09 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
Oh... like a gauntlet!
mykidisthebest: (grow in ivy vines that hold me)

[personal profile] mykidisthebest 2024-04-09 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
[nods!]

I'm sure you could get one fitted to go as far up as your prosthetic does. Even if the utility is limited due to a lack of interior space, it would work as a piece of armor just like you're used to it being.
