[ It was another ritual where the weeds were forced to participate among the flocks, but how well did each person come out?

Not on a computer, but I've played plenty of 'em on a console.

That's good enough! Ever have one that asks you "Please enter your name?"

Yeah, 'course, that or it'd want your initials.

Serves them right. A lot of them don't like us.

...You're new, right? You're probably in the "new guy" phase where they're trying to see if you're a threat or not. Have any interesting experiences with the sheep, yet?

They don't? Why?

I mean, all of 'em were interestin', but that's cuz all this stuff is new. Like, we were talkin' about games, it sounds like the kind of stuff you'd find in one.

It's knowledge mostly confined to those around to witness it... but there used to be black collars here who were true psychopaths. Thought nothing of trying to burn down whole homes. Or attacking random people. One of them even came back from the dead and destroyed one of the fences, allowing monsters outside the pasture to come inside to try to murder everyone. --Stormy killed him forever, for that.

So, they want to find out if you're reasonable or a psychopath. Though even you're not, they'll watch you closely anyway. --I've had attempts on my life, you know.

Besides, we're all atomized while the sheep are not. There's no organization here. There's no 'pick a fight with one of us, you pick a fight with all of us'. No leader. We'll be the first to be considered as the 'expendable' ones if there's some sort of emergency.

Though, all of that is a plus. We're the only ones with actual freedom here. The sheep have to live in their respective barns and play by the rules. There's nothing keeping you here in the tree house or saying you have to live here and you have to get along with everyone.

If that's what's happened in the past with other Weeds, I can't say I blame 'em for being wary at first. But - attempts on your life?

Is that really a plus, though . . . no one workin' together . . .

[sad nod] For the extreme crime of taking a single lemon when I was hungry...

Well, it sort of is. If you were to go out and shoot someone, no one would come to me saying "Hey, control this other weed."

Just for that? Oi . . .

That part makes sense, but what if one of you guys are in trouble? Wouldn't you want some back-up?

--What's your price? Are you prepared to have everyone related hate you? Maybe forever, or until you agree to personally repay them? Possibly by hurting me? Or sabotage you in ways you'll never know, or see?

Not to discourage you, but there's baggage all over the place. It's a deep well.

Oi oi . . . if you're in some kinda danger, then I'll help ya out. That's all there is to it.

That's nice of you, and I'm not going to say something stupid like "I can handle myself," because I can't, but just be careful.

And, don't be afraid to use your truth power.

I ain't afraid to use what I got if I have to, don't you worry.

But, my advice is if you do use it, you use it specifically to avoid traps and learn information about the pasture. --Using it to get a person's backstory out of them makes them angry.

Ehh? Magic and powers are cool and all, but I don't need that to learn about people.

Exactly... friendship can get you far, too.
