[WHAT A DAY HUH? At least by evening the rain starts to let up, and it is noticeably not as cold as it has been. It's a good night for doing whatever, or maybe you're doing dream shit, I'm not your mom.

In the morning, some will notice that along with the storm, there are also no longer patches of snow fluffies, and any snow still on the ground is starting to melt. Additionally, little by little, more wildlife is popping back up in the meadow and forest. With the cold snap gone, it looks like the wildlife scarcity is disappearing, too.

In the cafeteria, there is a small breakfast waiting for those who care for it: coffee or hot cocoa, orange juice, plum tarts, and omelettes made with fish. There is also a banner:

[it’s an ugly bald baby bird with an oversized metallic beak, obviously freshly hatched

it also tries to bite off his fingers INSTANTLY despite being so uncoordinated

this is probably not weird for a scister. the weird part is that it’s not making any noise at all, even when it struggles and apparently squalls.]

his excitement quickly turns to pain as the baby scister keeps trying to bite his fingers off]

--Ow, ouch, hey little one, don't bite so hard, be gentle! I can't feed you like this. How did you get outside?

[hides his fingers on the coat and attempts to swaddle the bird with a bit of it]

[it's very kicky and starts biting the coat, but it's definitely too baby to snip its way out yet, so he has solved the problem

Shhhh, shhh, it's okay, I love you, there there. You're doing so good for such a little one, you're very feisty! Don't make me bleed on my coat any more than I already am. My wardrobe isn't infinite.

[the strangely silent baby MUST be hungry, so he is going to coo at it and bring it to the kitchen]

[it pauses when he says I love you and seems to subside and squirm less

but it also appears to get? hiccups?]

[deposits the entire coat with the hiccuping baby bird onto the counter and grabs out the pre-made bird gunk they prepped for just this occasion. time to feed a baby scissor-faced bird this will not result in more bloody fingers probably]

[it really does seem more docile now! but it keeps shaking itself every now and again as it's fed and reattempting to attack his fingers at intervals

[he's pretty used to animals injuring him in the early stages; when he can he pulls back, keeping out of biting range, and when he can't he makes an exaggerated cry of distress to show that it hurts]

Scister birds must be really aggressive. Good thing there's just one of you, huh?

[when he does the exaggerated crying it digs in harder, like it knows he's faking it!!!

it's still just a baby though, so once it's fed and tucked somewhere warm it cannot help but settle down for the first of many uglycute naps]

[he and Charon had a space set up preemptively for when it hatched, thankfully, so once it settles down after being fed the lil baby bird gets put into that box before Lethe goes to check his notes to see how often baby birds need to get fed]

[the answer is that it's variable but dedicated. he's going to have to set alarms probably because he can't rely on this bird screeching when it's hungry]
