RITUAL 20 END

WHO: Sheep
WHERE: The Pasture
WHEN: Day 58 MORNIN!!

[by mid morning the fireworks fade and any remaining sparkles or pink mists fades, along with the compulsory effects of your flower pins. Now they're just normal pins--and you can keep them! If that's your thing.

Doki Doki and Bon Bon cackle in the air.]

WAHAHAHA! MY REVENGE HAS REACHED ITS PEAK! Bet you know better than to mess with us again!!

But I GUESS you've had enough and I'm satisfied. Love love~! Maybe we'll play again later!

[and EXPLOSION and the two disappear in a burst of pink glitter. That may or may not get left in your hair.]

Is paperwork really all you would see?

[She thinks about it.]

...When you get memories, are they random snippets of daily life? Or are they moments you found meaningful?
strateelgic: (sincere)

[personal profile] strateelgic 2024-02-10 07:10 am (UTC)(link)
Some have bene more noteworthy than others, but they've all had at least some small amount of substance. I haven't pulled up any memories that were simply me walking down a hallway and entering a classroom and nothing else.

[personal profile] wants_the_phd 2024-02-10 07:19 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm...

Still, if I'm just as likely to get something shitty as something good, it loses some of the appeal.

Anyone or anything I've forgotten is probably better off staying that way.
strateelgic: (pensive)

[personal profile] strateelgic 2024-02-10 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
That sounds depressing.
wants_the_phd: (023)

[personal profile] wants_the_phd 2024-02-11 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
Does it? In what way?
strateelgic: (earring)

[personal profile] strateelgic 2024-02-11 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
The fact that you think it's better that you may have forgotten anyone.
wants_the_phd: (009)

[personal profile] wants_the_phd 2024-02-11 05:41 am (UTC)(link)
I don't have anyone I'm particularly close to at home, so if there's someone I'm not remembering, it means I'm not actively plotting my revenge against them. Isn't that a good thing?
strateelgic: (serious)

[personal profile] strateelgic 2024-02-11 06:12 am (UTC)(link)
But how do you know you haven't simply forgotten someone important to you?

[The way he had.]
wants_the_phd: (008)

[personal profile] wants_the_phd 2024-02-11 06:21 am (UTC)(link)
Then it's better that I've forgotten, so I can't miss them.

Before you started taking memories, did you believe yourself to be an only child?
strateelgic: (magnanimous)

[personal profile] strateelgic 2024-02-11 06:27 am (UTC)(link)
Yes.

If I had thought back on my past at the point, I would have found so many pieces missing, but I has no reason to think about it until after I realized what I'd forgotten.
wants_the_phd: (030)

[personal profile] wants_the_phd 2024-02-11 06:29 am (UTC)(link)
[Yikes]

Were you still glad to have learned the truth once your brother left that first time?
strateelgic: (cautious)

[personal profile] strateelgic 2024-02-11 06:52 am (UTC)(link)
[*had no reason]

Of course.

I don't want to be ignorant of something that important.
wants_the_phd: (003)

[personal profile] wants_the_phd 2024-02-11 07:31 am (UTC)(link)
That makes sense. The pursuit of knowledge is always commendable in my book.

That said, I really don't think there's anyone like that in my life. There's only been one person I was ever truly close to, and she died when we were kids. It was an important life lesson on the perils of forming attachments that I've been cognizant not to repeat.
strateelgic: (serious)

[personal profile] strateelgic 2024-02-12 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
I had other siblings. Rata and I are the only ones who survived childhood.

It's tough out there under the sea, huh?
strateelgic: (glance)

[personal profile] strateelgic 2024-02-12 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
It can be tough anywhere. But I do agree that it can be more difficult in the ocean to simply put up a fence.

[personal profile] wants_the_phd 2024-02-12 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
What's your home like? I'm afraid I don't know a single thing about... mers?

[not sure if that's the name of his species, actually???]
strateelgic: (back)

[personal profile] strateelgic 2024-02-12 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
Mers. Merfolk. The latter is the appropriate term, but "mer" is used just as often.

I come from the North Coral Sea. It's a bit on the edge of mer society. Colder than the warmer, more populated regions. Less regulated and more prone to dangers.

What are your dwellings like? Family units? What is a normal day like down there?
strateelgic: (skeptical)

[personal profile] strateelgic 2024-02-13 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
That's quite a bit to ask... I don't think our families and every day activities are too different from those of people on land. Everything is just underwater, obviously. And people on land are more limited in their range of vertical motion without magical items or machines...

[personal profile] wants_the_phd 2024-02-14 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
Makes sense.

I imagine you have buildings, right? What do they look like?
strateelgic: (lurk)

[personal profile] strateelgic 2024-02-14 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
They're generally crafted from stone and coral, with some built in the shape of shells. Others are built into already existing crevices. It's always important to take current flow into account when designing building structures and where a town might be placed.
wants_the_phd: (002)

[personal profile] wants_the_phd 2024-02-14 05:22 pm (UTC)(link)
That's so cool! I've never thought of coral as a building material.

Not needing roads or paths must save a lot of space... Do you guys have vehicles or do you just travel everywhere on fin?
strateelgic: (conversation)

[personal profile] strateelgic 2024-02-15 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
By fin. Vehicles are unnecessary underwater unless you're a terrified prey animal seeking protection.
