[It is such a peaceful day in the pasture, what a great time to catch up on paperwork and not have any crises.]

[ breathes a soft breath out, just slowly enough to avoid any rattle or hitch, when it's gone far enough he's certain they've hit the ceiling on what can be done. ]

There you go... you're looking much better.

[pulls back, licking his lips. his face is red again, but it's a healthy flush now. and a an embarrassed one when he opens his eyes and sees quetzal's arm.]

I feel much better. Had a headache and sore throat too... Are also gone. Really feel a lot more normal.

[ he lets the artificially-induced hype feeling dwindle away, rather than cutting his influence sharply. careful not to make a crash. careful to use a light touch. it could be the blood. it could be that it's quetzal. the latter answer is not, technically, untrue. ]

If you can say you'll be more comfortable now, then... that's what I wanted~.

[ he draws his bitten arm slowly away, and traces his fingers over it with a light glow. the bleeding stops. ]

[muffin starts to purr as the hyped-up feelings fade, relaxation filling in behind excitement. his hands are still injured, but the relief he’s received and comfort he has in Quetzal’s presence are enough for Daffodil’s healing to activate. the pain won’t worsen.]

Biscuit said I should heal by um, getting wasted and having my man over. This isn’t how he meant, but it worked.

[ a wry chuckle from the bottom of his throat. ]

Suppose we fulfilled the spirit, if not the letter. I'm here out and about the house, and you've gotten into a potent libation.

[there’s a tug on quetzal’s tail… it’s muffin’s tail trying to swish back and forth. he liked that sound.]

One of my favorite vintages. Is one thing missing though. To make a perfect cure.

[with both of them sitting down, it's easy for muffin to lean up and get a kiss.]

[ a brief bit of stillness, before he puts his mind to it to properly respond; that little lag time is part of what makes Quetzal uniquely who he is. ]

[the pause just means he gets muffin purring all the more gratefully when he doesn't leave muffin with only a peck. instead of lipstick, his mouth still tastes like quetzal's blood.]

[he's still not fully healed, of course. he had to lean back when he made to lift his hand, only to stop before his bandages touched quetzal's face.]
