I was thinking about something like a game reward, but a community quest might be easier to organize. Recently I asked Blossom for help getting some new equipment for the clinic, and that needed people from four different flocks, so maybe we could do something along those lines.

For the sake of a properly-outfitted lab, I'd definitely be willing to help. ...Within reason.

I don't need children near poison. Knowing Blossom's quests, maybe it'll involve telling each other about our greatest embarrassments while successfully constructing an experiment.

No, but that doesn't mean it's not worth trying anyway! That's what he gets for leaving his corpse laying around.

Unfortunately, he asked for those things in return for goods and services. Not exactly what I'd consider a fair bargin, but we are a captive audience.

Do you think one of those mist wolves would be more interesting to experiment on?

Sure. Proper werewolves, too, if we want to try and find some kind of way of preventing lycanthropy besides hoping we're able to find enough wolfsbane when we need it.

I don't know anything about magic, but there's plenty of stuff I could use a lab for.

What about you? You're making poisons, you say?

Well, primarily I make medicines. Sometimes medicines are also poisons. ... and then there are poisons I know to know the antidote to. ( shrug! ) People here often don't know what they pick may kill them. Best be prepared.

I really do wonder what kind of conditions are necessary to cultivate wolfsbane. I've tried with no luck. Do you know how bewildering it is for plant magic - the thing I was born with! - to not work? It's like trying to light a candle except it just won't light!

Maybe a greenhouse that can grow limbus and wolfsbane would be another good community upgrade to pursue.

What kind of magic do you do, besides plant... stuff?

Healing and plant magic is all I do. I don't truly have any alternatives.

Which is why I need the explosives, generally.

Still, healing magic sounds incredibly useful on its own. I can think of so many times I wished I had that sort of thing.

...Though, I have also heard about your recent pressure to arm up. Smart to prepare while you can. Explosives sound like a good plan.

That there's a weed floating around who goes by Pandora, who is an extremely powerful and malevolent figure from Caesura's world with the power steal memories and do mind control. Charon and Ananke were present when she appeared, and that turned into a fight. And she stabbed you in the face. And also impaled Akrinak in the same way his best friend died, and mind-controlled him, which led to his collar turning green because he gave his safe word to Zenith. And she recently killed, uh.... what's his face, the gloomy guy with the gun, Styx? And that it sounds like this kind of thing is something Lily expects to keep happening.

So, you know. Just bits and pieces.

I dunno, that's what he told me — a random stranger. He seemed jumpy enough, but the way people talk about death in this place makes me feel like it's not that big a deal to some people.

Like, Akrinak also died the other day but on purpose, for some random quest. And he's not the first person who's killed themself just 'cause Red asked them to, either. I just don't know what to think any more.

So, maybe you can ask Styx, himself.

Kiki wasn't the only person who was stabbed. I was, too. ( lifts his shirt, so she can see the now healed-over wound in his chest, almost right over his heart. ) Pandora could've killed me. She's a danger.

I mentioned this to Ananke too, but if you need a place to take shelter from mental effects, you're always welcome at Rose. We have a ward for that kind of thing. And robust locks on the doors.

That said... it's not really why I'm "arming up", as you say. I had some of these at home, too, should my magic fail me. I've been so busy storing for the winter that I hadn't been able to finish making my mage's kit, though... this is the first time I've had the chance.

Not much I can do for preservation when the animals have scurried off and the plants are dormant, for the most part.

Did you wind up needing explosives much at home, too?

Not that much. I usually used them when I was on the front lines - many countries respect not attacking medics as a rule of war, but... not all.
