[once people head home after the ritual ends and have some time to settle in, everyone gets a cube call]

Hi. For those who don't know me, I'm Tyr from Thistle.

I know some of you are already preparing for the cold - but if you're not, you should start. I want to help make that a little easier, hence the call. So, I'll be stopping by everyone's barns to drop off some things.

The first is a piece of paper with ways to keep you and your barns warm. It's all practical, meaning you don't need anything special to do any of it. Some of it's common sense but I included it anyway.

I stuck a copy of it in the clinic's book, too. You're welcome to add to it if there's something you think I missed or should be included.

For the other thing, I'll need a volunteer from your barn. It's something for Red and in return you'll be getting some tools for your flock. I'll give more details in person, but anyone can do it. Or you can refuse, that's fine too.

Lastly, a few people have mentioned wanting to learn some self defense, so I'm putting the offer out there to teach anyone who wants to learn. Basic survival lessons, too.

More or less, yeah. Basic first aid, how to start a fire, making simple traps - things like that.

Not yet, no, I haven't had a chance. I'd like to meet them, though - and help if I can.

What kind of survival training were you thinking for yourself if that's too basic?

I'm sure you'll see her around sooner or later. She's the only girl we've got; impossible to miss.

I'm more interested in stuff like tracking and stealth. I can do a lot in my suit, but I've heard there's places out in the mist where powers don't work so I wanna be prepared.

Not at all. Could be fun, I've never taught anything like that before.

It is pretty serious, but it doesn't have to be just that, you know?

If I was smiling, either I thought the lesson was too easy or I wasn't taking things seriously enough.

I wish I knew. Military practically breeds them, though.

Really? My dad's ex-military, and he's the best guy I know.

Ahh, I'm not trying to generalize, I know plenty of good people, too. Most of the assholes I knew gravitated towards special operations, like my trainer.

At least it seems like his bad attitude didn't rub off on you too. Did you have to deal with a lot of other guys like him?

I did. Still do, but not nearly as often because I work by myself most of the time.

Isn't your job investigating bioterrorism? Kinda feel like you should have a partner for work that serious.
