Okay barnlore rundown for our new member. The official upgrades list is here
- everyone has their own (by default, very basic with a cot) room either off the main floor or loft* azdaja's is basement level. I can't remember if it's a door leading down stairs or a literal trap door
also we have One Extra room. It's got lots of theatre props and costumes in it and also any other random objects Rose is storing.
- common room has a fancy red velvet chaise (uncomfortable) covered in super tacky fancy cherub pillows (comfortable, expensive) - the common room walls are also covered in chalk notes. and maybe a little dragon drawn in a corner
- Really Nice Kitchen - exterior structure meat locker with a door connecting to the inside of the barn iirc - underground fancy rose hedge maze obstacle course with a really nice guest room at the end. Difficulty adjustable, but it turns your non-flock powers off - viewport of obstacle course in kitchen - bubble window to outside world made of playplace / hamster habitat plastic
- ominous sigil on roof - different ominous sigil on one of the bedroom doors
- large diamond vibing in the common room next to the crystal rose sculpture
Azdaja's room is a normal-looking door in the corner that looks like a broom closet or something but it leads downstairs into a basement, which is where she lives.
Also, all the bedroom doors have locks. The barn doors also have locks.
[Shadow Fiend is swathed in layers of waistcoat and jacket and coat, but fancy suits are not substitute for real winter clothes]
Should we do a thing to get some winter clothes? I dunno how long this cold snap's gonna last but it'd be nice to be warm while it's here! I bet we could get coats and scarves and stuff really easily!
Our pipes thankfully did not explode, but I doubt it's going to get warmer any time soon, so if we want our pipes to continue not exploding, we should think about some kind of proactive insulation.
Also, for the sake of having materials with which to grow replacement bodies or parts, I think it would be useful for everyone to store some of their own blood, Just In Case. Crois and I are thinking of doing some kind of blood drive for this purpose. I would also like it if we could somehow get a freezer for the clinic, so we can store stuff in there for people who don't have freezers in their own barns, like the black-collared folks. Or just have a backup in case of pipe failure or other barn-centric disasters.
Finally, with cold weather likely here to stay for a while, we might want to think about upgrading the bathroom or getting hot spring or something, in case we need to warm up. Or thaw a body, or whatever.
To these ends, I want to know if any of you would be willing to do a rite of some sort with me. I don't know what, but I'm open to ideas. I think it's in everyone's best interest to at least insulate the pipes while we have the chance.
Well, we still have that play from Stormy to get an upgraded washroom. I don't think quests have an expiration date, so there's no reason we couldn't still do it? Or I could ask Stormy for a new quest, maybe.
At the very least, rites should be good for getting us some warmer clothes until we can get a fireplace or a brazier going in here. I'm up for doing a rite with you for either of those, though!
Gossip and drama! So putting on any kind of performance or any kind of play-acting would count, probably.
We could put on a magic show, maybe? We’ve got, like, three whole wizards now, I bet they wouldn’t mind showing off a little. And those of us who don’t have magic can be, um, announcers, or their lovely assistants or something. I bet everyone would appreciate a show, and if nobody comes, we can at least perform for the sheep!
It's not too late. We could always manifest some wool blankets by doing some kind of activity together.
We could also use fiberglass, straw, shredded paper, foam... all sorts of things. I know you can use your magic to create water -- are there any other materials you can generate that we might be able to use for this?
Can't just snap my fingers and make us a base material, alas. Everything I can do is generally, ah... oriented for more violent use, and more practical applications are incidental. I can conjure water, ice, wind, fire, electricity... manipulate its flow as we need... Mm. I DO have a trick that can make small amounts of crystals or ores from a target, but making a lot is going to be a lot of banal repetition, and what's produced depends on the target.
After all that, he's looking thoughtfully at the people around... this is his flock, though he wonders if he'll be able to do anything for them when they seem to have things well in hand. ]
... perhaps we should start with proper introductions. Even if I may have run into you outside of here.
[ Vil is also canonly supposed to be a stunning beauty and is probably arrived in something reminiscent of this, just slightly more simpler without the heavier pieces- yet elegant and more in blacks and reds. ]
And I assume personal items such as extra clothing or hygiene aren't immediately available either?
Oh, no, you should have some extra outfits in one of the spare rooms. If not, clothes are pretty easy to get if we do group activities. I know that sound weird but it's how the magic here works, apparently! At least when demon pacts aren't involved.
We do have a washroom, with a tub and a shower and everything, even running water! So you don't have to worry about that, either.
[she is from vaguely medieval times, so having indoor plumbing is cause for excitement]
Depends on your idea of immediate. There's hoops to jump no matter what.
Where the spirit of hope and togetherness can't cut it, you might find yourself entreating with the little fox down at the store in Woolietown for certain amenities. Terrifically minor objects he'll ask a pittance for, but... He's also our only source for objects from home, and he's a consummate sadist who is very capable at identifying the sore spots of others and will oft call upon one to poke at them for payment for the return of one's own belongings. His name is Red.
I see. Then he's the one I need to see if I wish for my magic pen returned? Right now, it's a priority that I have that regained. It's my focus for when I use stronger magic.
[Proper introductions... Well, at least he had practice with the recent ritual.]
Fafnir. For the record, I have amnesia, but that's been the case for a few years before I ever got here. I worked as a special agent in a city called Tokyo. Someone I know from home is here with me—a little girl calling herself Spinel, from Clover. She shows up here a lot because of that. If you have a problem you think a gun could help solve, I've got one and I know how to use it.
Tokyo... that's a place in Japan, isn't it? Someone back home arrived from Japan to my world, as well. And the only amnesia I seem to be suffering is one for my own name.
[ He nods, then- ]
I suppose that's good to know, Fafnir. Are weapons readily available here, though?
About someone named Red, that we're apparently going to be expected to have Flocks work with and against each other and that most people here have been here for longer than they should be, while time has moved strangely back home.

But I couldn't possibly say no to some hot springs.
Re: ANNOUNCE
Otherwise we may have to wait until we get lucky and win a ritual.
[And considering the next ritual requires physical displays of affection... rip]

What sort of group activities do you all need for items like that? I have to regain my magic pen or I won't be able to use more of my magic.
