when you win you still lose sometimes

WHO: Lily and co (visitors, Bluebell, etc)
WHERE: Lilybarn
WHEN: Day 28+, post-kissgame walk of shame

( come soothe your anxieties in the new spa's heated pool

or sleep away your troubles in the new war room's pillow pit.

or alternatively awaken sleeping lilies by screaming in the new war room due to its soundproofing. )

[ Peeking in at some point, drawn by unexpected singing ]

Huh, you're in a pretty good mood.

[ he stops when he hears footsteps but doesn't lose his cheer ]

I finished my quest for Red, so I'm getting started on all these designs now... I have a bunch of things I wanted to make.

Really? From the way you were talking about it, I thought it'd take you longer. Nice job.

I know about the one I asked for, but what's the other stuff you're making?

[personal profile] hardpity 2023-09-01 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm making a seed press and an electric mill for a schoolmate of mine on Rose... I'm making a projector so maybe we can have movie nights sometime... your drone... and then I'm designing a lighting rig for a play.
spinebuddyandme: (I don't think it should bend that way)

[ That's so much stuff '-' Scans the partially finished projects again, idly noting all the tech details he cannot possibly understand that the Scarab is "helpfully" dropping into his visual field. Hm, science. ]

Damn, I knew you were good at this stuff, but I didn't realize how fast you worked. You're a serious genius.

[personal profile] hardpity 2023-09-01 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Uhihi. It hasn't come up until now because of the tech level, but I'm the type of magical engineering genius that only comes along once in a thousand years.

Normally I'd have doubts about a claim like that, but I'm pretty sure that's just the kind of person Blossom wanted to bring here.

Anyway, if you're that good then this must be like kids stuff for you. What would you make if you really wanted to show off?
hardpity: (302)

[personal profile] hardpity 2023-09-01 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
If I really wanted to show off... well, there's nothing I couldn't make with time and supplies... probably here some kind of mega-flashlight reconnaissance drone for exploring the mist?
spinebuddyandme: (126)

[personal profile] spinebuddyandme 2023-09-01 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
That's not a bad idea, but wouldn't you need, like, a ton of sunflowers for that?
hardpity: (70)

[personal profile] hardpity 2023-09-01 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I could probably isolate the frequency of the light they emit and recreate it artificially.

[ plz hold it's time to gaze into the middle distance for a couple of seconds ]

Scarab just said a bunch of really complicated stuff that sounds like he agrees with you. I thought we'd just need to plant more...

Basically it would be sort of equivalent to how they make some lightbulbs different colors or shades of light, but tuned to sunflower.

Guess I just didn't realize how complicated light bulbs could be.

They're a simple idea that can be made complicated for complicated situations.

I think you just described all of science.
spinebuddyandme: (Yeah I could take him)

[personal profile] spinebuddyandme 2023-09-02 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
It's really cool though! I don't have the brains for this stuff, so it's awesome to have someone around that can think of better ideas than hanging a bunch of sunflowers from a drone.

[ puffs up again ]

Well, I'd probably need more of a lab to sort it out, b-but it's still possible theoretically.

[ sighs in vague disappointment, but he doesn't actually look bothered ]

At least we can still have your regular tech work. That projector's gonna be great when it's done.

What kinda movies do you like?

Adventure movies.

[personal profile] spinebuddyandme 2023-09-02 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
You can't go wrong with a good adventure. Do you like the explosions kind best, or action heroes?
hardpity: (282)

[personal profile] hardpity 2023-09-02 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
The kind with heroes!

Those are my favorite too. Seeing them pull off crazy moves at the last second is way better than just blowing the problem up every time.
