We spoke once? I offered to help him with tending juniper plants, if he purchased any, in exchange for being able to harvest from them.

I would be interested, once I finish with my current project. As it is, my workshop is more barren than I'd like.

Will whatever quest you are on for Red equip it fully, or is there other gear you need?

It'll be fine for a start. I'd like to improve what I have currently, but I'm fine with starting with basic tools and working for upgrades.

He initially wanted me to give someone an unknown potion to drink without telling me what the consequences were. I negotiated, but I'm not inclined to trust his requests very much.

You should not. He likes to give, ah. Unnecessarily bad deals, if he thinks it is funny.

He's shady. I'd rather haggle with the grannies at the market.

I don't know enough about commerce to challenge that.

But I suppose in a situation where medicine would be useful, I could provide that.

Medicine's always useful. This place did give us all healing powers, but they can be shut down rather arbitrarily, and they don't work on poisons or illnesses.

Would you know preparations for the plant called wolfsbane...?

[ she has to think for a moment, but she has visibly perked up with the question, now that they've swung into her area of hyperfixation focus. ]

It's mostly used for replenishing yang when someone is suffering from a deficit. It can also be used for heart troubles and the kidneys, and as a painkiller, though it has to be properly prepared. I wouldn't recommend simply eating it, because it's more poisonous than most plants.

Unfortunately it has other uses here as well. There was some advice given on preparing it as tea and such for human consumption when it came up; what are other methods of taking it?

It's most effective when ingested. But you can use it as an ingredient in poultices and apply to the skin. What sort of other uses?

Here it is used to cure lycanthropy. A curse from the beasts within the mists, that renders the afflicted into an unthinking wolf during the night.

...well. I'm not familiar with curses, but if they operate like regular diseases, I can work with that.

We're still exploring the parameters. Wolfsbane is only found within the mists itself, so it's been slow going. If we're able to retrieve a bigger sample at some point I will see what I can do about sending some your way, but I can't make promises.

Is it something that can be grown outside of that mist? If so, it'd be useful to try cultivating it out here. If you can get a sample with roots, I'd be most interested in that.

We will try. I think we would all prefer propagation in this relative safe zone rather than have to take the risk every time we needed it.

I wouldn't call myself a professional gardener, but my old man and I did grow some of our own herbs. If you manage it, I'll help keep it alive.

Are there other plants specific to here you are interested to work with? Groups do head into the forest frequently for resources.

I don't know all of what's available here, yet. So far, though, I'm interested in anything that could be of medicinal value.

I'm afraid I have little background knowledge -- I've learned more about plants since coming here, but largely for growth and edibility. There does seem to be a wide variety around, however.

The other two specialty plants I am aware of are honeysuckle, which is used both for food and to shut down individuals' powers, so it should not be approached by those who have them -- and limbus, the liquid of which which is used to regrow limbs.
