🌑︎ 🌑︎
WHO: all
WHERE: all
WHEN: Day 9, evening into night
[the sun goes down; the two moons rise.
it all looks...quite different. the laundromat lengthens and transforms the silhouette of Woolietown in the distance. the lighthouse beacon comes to life for the first time, throwing strong, brilliant light and stark shadows across the meadow and into the barns. the lazy river encircles the pasture in a glittering band, the bobbing shapes of the pool toys a little bit eerie until they drift into full view.
perhaps some of you are winding down. perhaps some of you are just gearing up for a wild adventure in the shadows. perhaps some of you, regardless of if you sleep or stay up, find your dreams and nightmares crawling out beyond the bounds of your own head tonight, drawing others in...
the night is full of possibilities.]

You were traveling Gaia.
[ the globe swivels, and a point of red light pours from a particular spot in the ocean. ]
You took the dragon. But there is mud, upon your boots. [ two entire continents go dark, on the globe. ] Were there settlements, on your path? Of what size?

the fading... is getting to him, and he doubts he'll last here much longer, so. another route it is.
"Kefka took him. Surprised you don't know already." ]

I see. The nonsense words of a dying soul... we shall continue this when the vessel is in a more suitable state.
[ he sweeps his cape aside.
he leaves you there to die.
that's right. you died alone, didn't you?
the chamber changes. you're still trapped in the chair. but now, you're in what seems like the innards of a jungle, foliage, vines, a pressing sense of being deep under.
you're wounded. grievously. the great tree rumbles with its oncoming death throes.
you sent them all away at the last moment. somewhere safe from what's coming. it's just you, here. your vision is going out. ]

but also, ow. is this the end? ]

but something just. feels wrong about it. like a mirage at your side with blue eyes. a hand on yours. you don't even have the strength to recoil. no, idiot, you were alone. you died alone. you were ALWAYS, ALWAYS alone! no one ever came for you! that's why they all deserve death! you feel so cold. everything hurts, and you burned yourself down from every direction you could to do that evil thing you tried to do.
the nothing beside you squeezes your hand. you're so glad he got to grow up free from that place.
for some goddamn reason, it's yama's voice that speaks to you out of the nothing-shaped-nobody as you fade out for real. ]
No one's useless... You helped us escape, remember?

[ he'll process this later. much later, laughs at day 10 and 11 and possibly 12. for now:
"Shut up, you stupid mutt. You have no idea what you're talking about." ]
