[It happened so suddenly--no matter where you were, even if you didn't get caught up in, you suddenly saw the massive, ghostly body of Death standing over the pasture. Whether you were in your barn, the cafeteria, exploring the meadow or forest, it didn't matter. You suddenly found yourself sucked into seemingly another realm, experiencing memories and feelings and urges that certainly did not belong to you. A ritual is being performed, but it was not caused by Weed or Sheep or Blossom. Not, Death herself called this one, in an effort to call attention to. . .something, who knows.

As you eventually wake up from the ritual--possibly with injuries or horrific memories, you will find yourself at the fountain.

Blossom, Stormy, and Lady are also there, soundly asleep. And also tied up. Death is tired of their shit okay.]

[Oh okay. Well, since she's looking, she'll probably find it. Better to heal this now while he can't feel any pain.]

[She straightens it out as best she can, then hovers her hand over it. Her hand and his ankle both start to glow with pale green light as the flesh, bone, and tendon repair themselves in whatever way necessary. This works on fresh injuries, but not to ones that have already set, so there are no changes in his arm stump.]

[ That's probably fine. Lily certainly already has plans fix missing limbs

It isn't long after she's fixed his ankle that Lethe comes by and coaxing their souls back into place ~~and I remember how reviving works again~~. Ananke sits up slowly, rubbing at the side of his head ]

Az? What happened?

I really don't know. I think it might have been a ritual, but there were no obvious goals, and everyone was scattered around a labyrinth. We were all so spread out I barely saw anyone.

Do you remember anything? --No, before that, does anything hurt?

My head's killing me, but it's not the worst I've felt. The last thing I remember was talking to Blossom—or Lethe? Nothing dangerous.

[She has no idea if healing magic can help with a headache, but she's going to try anyway. She holds her hands out in his direction and they start to glow faintly green. He may or may not feel some sort of HP recovery going on.]

Did someone assassinate you...?

I didn't find any obvious death wounds on you. What on pulmungt...

[ sits up a little straighter, some of the wrinkles in his forehead easing up. Looks like it's helping some? ]

If they did, even Scarab didn't notice anything. Maybe there was some secret death trigger? The only weird thing I remember was a scream in the distance, and then I was down.

[Ok phew she's done healing him now, in that case.]

That's so bizarre...

This whole ritual was enormously fucking weird. I don't understand what we were supposed to be doing in there.

I think it was supposed to be a weird invasive way to show us what happened in the past. We met the Lady back before she got engaged to Stormy, and another version of her when she was waiting for Stormy to come find her after she died.

Did you learn anything?

The things I saw were so disjointed, I'm not sure I know how to make sense of it.

Not a ton, but it was a lot more obvious she agreed to marry him out of duty. I'm not sure she even wanted to be married so much as she liked all the attention she was getting before the king asked her to marry his son.

That tracks. What I saw suggested Stormy wasn't that into her, either. Or anything else, for that matter.

I caught some glimpses of Blossom, but mostly just embarrassing moments from her youth.

Wait—he wasn't even into Blossom? I thought he wasn't into the wedding because they had some kinda star-crossed lovers thing going on.

No, I mean he wasn't into the other one. The Lady. I don't know how he felt about Blossom. If I saw, then I don't remember.

[She spent a lot of the game running for her life and having hallucinations, please don't judge.]

Oh, then my theory's still got a shot. I'm pretty sure I only saw a little of it, 'cause we only saw Blossom and Stormy once. There's probably stuff we both missed.

The place seemed really big. I can't believe how many people were in there that I never even caught a whiff of.

Maybe once the dust settles, we can compare notes. For now, I think some people could probably stand to go to ground for a bit.

Were we all in there together? I didn't see anyone other than Charon and Lethe.

I ran into a handful of people at different times, and caught the scents of a few others who had passed through ahead of me.

I think the labyrinth was just really huge.

Did anyone give you trouble in there?

Not really? Aside from the things that I assume were memories or hallucinations. Like the ghosts of past Thistles, or what I think might have been a bear, or some humanoid creature with a skull for a head. Stuff like that. I spent most of the ritual just running away from stuff

Judging by the carnage out here, I got off easy.
