RITUAL 28: b o a t
WHO: strangers are just friends We have not devoured yet
WHERE: the beach
WHEN: Day 79, night
[ as the sun sets, there’s a cyan glow throughout the shallows - bioluminescence, seemingly, emitting from some sort of fungal growth that creeps forth. A light fog rolls in, filling the air with a gentle mist, as a chorus begins to sound from the deep.
something large surfaces from the abyss, lurking beyond the fog which grows deeper - the air becomes thicker and harder to breath, and one gets the sense that the room is full of something else, something that’s watching with a billion eyes.
…and then the waves crash with a great intensity, leaving behind a large white-and-blue speckled sea anemone-like flower, large as a strand of kelp. It twitches slightly, as if it was alive but no longer is. next to it lies a barnacle-covered brass lyre.
those not at the beach can still feel the song piercing their mind, hooking into the inside of their skull and pulling them toward it as if they’ve been caught on a fishing line and are being reeled in.
eventually the pressure grows strong enough to cause you to black out, and then - you’re in a cave that might seem a little familiar. this time, there’s no jellyfish in the pools - only tidal dwelling creatures like anemones and urchins and starfish, and various mosses and lichens and corals.
and then there’s the voice. The voice of many, unified into one stream that hammers the inside of your skull - if you can focus, it sounds nearly like a whalesong, yet wholly and entirely different.
still—through it all, you can strain to understand: ]
The dead branch, has summoned you.
To understand. As if, there is anything more We need to understand, about you.
We know what you have taught us. We remember. But We do not wish to speak.
We wish, to teach.
Experience what We know, and We will meet. One day, soon, when Our song is no louder than yours.
But do not disappoint. Remember. Remember. Remember.
Everything that happens, happens because of you.

IC RULES
OOC RULES
During each round, a team will have to deal with at least two events before moving on, which will give them the opportunity to gain TREASURES and (hopefully) not die. At the beginning of each round, teams will be updated on their stats:
In addition, each team will have an ability based on their JOB, which can be targeted towards other teams to cause them harm while providing some benefit for yourself, generally either additional points or the ability to ignore certain events. Since everyone starts as a sailor, they will have the ability to increase their ship’s speed, which has a chance to injure one random team, but will reduce the user's Nervous Impairment by 10. Abilities always succeed, and will only be caught by certain teams having certain jobs, which will give the attacking team a negative event to solve. When gaining a new ability, teams will be told what it is and they will lose their previous ability. Getting better jobs gives better abilities and more points per round to allocate to stats. Jobs change based on decisions made in events.
WEEDS have a special role! They play as the PURSUERS, and can pick two teams to receive one negative event (receiving 10 Treasures per event sent) for the next round and one team (10 Treasures per event sent) to receive a positive event. They will be able to see each team’s stats at the beginning of each round, and will be able to send one message per round (140 character max) to each team, which will be received at the start of the next round.
They only have Treasures, not Light or Nervous Impairment, and their events will relate to intervening other teams’ events. Weeds CANNOT be targeted by other teams' JOB abilities.
The win conditions are as follows:
Flock and canon powers cannot be used during this ritual.
