Well, there's probably a few ways of doing it... I have magic, as well... but I was wondering if maybe I could keep the magestones above ground in case I need to do maintenance...

Hypothetically should be fine. Afterall, if no one that would mess with them can get it, then them being in a more vulnerable location wouldn't really matter.

Even if I float them at about six feet up... it'd be pretty easy to just make touching any magestone trigger the removal process.
