meanwhile perci is just grinding up some spices outside. tumeric and ginger in particular. don't mind him but do mind the smell and the spiciness of the air around him because some just might die. )

... yeah. But he didn't really give ya a clearer idea of some stuff, so wanted to run it by ya, since I'm gonna get Bluebell a checklist to start with since they keep havin' problems startin' organization.

That's a good idea, actually. Proper wing care can sometimes be tedious and tiring. He could most certainly use the help from the rest of his flock.

I dunno if he really knew about or how to use 'em until pretty recently. And there were some times when some things happened that forced 'em, so it's not just hidin' 'em 'cause humans ain't used to it. He's actually worried 'bout hurtin' people with 'em--with what they mean.

So gettin' him to relax about it's... tricky.

He's more in control of 'em now. But the times he wasn't... they weren't good. Not his fault, 'cept he probably doesn't see it that way.

... reason why there were some pretty badly damaged feathers... he used 'em to stop bullets aimed at me. Aimed at the kids at the orphanage. Not even sure if they're meant for that, but that's how he is.

The "bullets" are the smooth arrows, right? I did notice some feathers were damaged while I was fixing their positions, but they didn't look like any injury I was used to.

Like the ones in my gun, yeah.

They can be cleaner than arrows if shot accurately. But they can also do more damage if they're not--or if shot that way on purpose.

They're not feathers like yers, though. They "caught" the bullets. But bullets have a spin, so catchin' 'em probably tore 'em up a bit.

I was wondering what could've caused those... I see. And he used his feathers during the mayhem that night, or so I assume.

Had Fantasia wrapped up in 'em. Got chewed up. Broken.

Thought he'd need help straightenin' 'em out before healin', but then he did it himself.

... we fell from a pretty big height once. After he blocked those bullets for me. Probably used 'em then, too, but I didn't... think... to check.

That's not your fault. You're not used to caring after wings, and from what I've seen... neither is he.

I went through a lot of wing injuries myself, even with people caring for me and having it right in their faces. He'll need to instruct or at least be open to instructing others on how to take care of them.

Ya said every couple've days to stretch 'em out and stuff, right? What about the whole... fixin' feathers stuff?

He really should be stretching them every day... but we're working with someone who does not seem to want to have them out at all, so every couple of days feels more possible.

Preening should happen daily, at least once. It won't be as long as I took with them, I had to take so long because his wings were in such bad condition. It's like... brushing your hair.
